BRP Greenway Loops at Half Life

Event Date

Feb 08, 2017

6 pax (including J-Lo, not registered on Isotope site, but an F3 veteran relocated from MECA) laced 'em up and came to Half Life ready to pound the pavement.

I know what you're thinking – "wait, a Half Life BB?"  If posting stats are derived from BBs, YHC wants to ensure these fine men are duly credited for having left the fartsack once again to better themselves and each other this morning.  Also, some pax who haven't been out to HL may be curious as to what goes on here.  Give it a try sometime…. all speeds welcome, and promise you'll come away faster.

THANG:

Turnpike and YHC showed at 0500 for a 2.7 mile #Standard around the Bailey Road Park greenway loop that YHC planned to take the pax around 30 minutes later.

By 0530, there were 6 of us (almost 7….Ramrod appeared, and then disappeared….see moleskin), and we took off together at a brisk jog pace to familiarize the group with the greenway loop, which Turnpike and YHC had earlier pegged at about 1.3 miles in length.

Upon completing the group jog around the loop, we partnered up (essentially split the group in two).  One half of the group ran at a jog/recovery pace in one direction, and the other half took the loop at a faster/sprint pace in the other direction.  Whenever the two halves of the group met, the recovery pace group became the sprint pace group, and vice-versa.

YHC isn't sure how many times the two groups met one another, but it seemed like everyone got in close to 5-6 miles total.  Nice work, gentlemen.

MOLESKIN:

  • J-Lo is officially a regular at Half Life.  And is very fast.  Thanks for the push this morning, brother, and great to have you out there again.
  • TClaps to Jingle Bells and Tantrum, who (along with YHC) both posted at Fallout yesterday for Dry Rub's "Legtopia" beatdown and then turned right around and signed up for more leg work today.  Strong!
  • I'm starting to think there may be Turnpike clones out there, posting at every AO in Isotope.  The man is everywhere.  Seriously, thanks for joining YHC for the Standard, TP.  As you've remarked yourself, it's awesome that we rarely find ourselves alone out there in the gloom.
  • Thanks as always to Hippie for the coffee and 2nd F at coffeeteria, one of my favorite parts of the morning.
  • As noted above, Ramrod pulled into the AO at 0525, got out of his car, chatted for a minute, and then promptly got back in his car and sped away, allegedly headed to Hollywood.  Not sure what prompted the last minute change of heart, but I like to think he felt YHC was getting ready to repay him for the 150 burpees YHC was made to do at Foundry on Friday.
  • While he was effortlessly cruising (and dragging YHC) around the greenway loops, J-Lo advised YHC of a CSAUP event that YHC had not heard of – the 24 Hour Time Laps Relay Race at WWC on May 5-6. Sounded like great fun. Check it out: http://usnwc.org/play/whitewater-race-series/upcoming/time-laps-24-hour-relay-race/.
  • Thanks to Kumquat for allowing YHC to lead today, and supplying the idea for today's workout.  Hope everyone enjoyed it….
