Cauldron’s Lightning Round

The Cauldron is always a hot spot on Fridays, but especially so when the rain is falling. When YHC arrived at the parking deck this morning, Camp Gladiator’s electronica was blaring, FiA was warming up and at least 3 aspiring pax were running up and down the decks for a dry-ish standard. Well, 2 were running; Titan might have been sashaying. The rain was just picking up as the workout got started, but the sky would really let loose midway through the workout and reveal all the leaks in the parking garage. But that would not impact the planned WIB. Stealing from a recent Hollywood workout with a few minor tweaks, the only moisture the pax would need to worry about would be the sweat produced from 800-1000 reps.

THUNDERSTORM WARNING

YHC dubbed today’s circuit-based workout “Descending Setticles” since the idea was to complete all 13 sets in a descending order and then Zamporini back the the top minus one station and repeat. For each circuit, the pax would drop a station as they worked their way back to the pair of burpees (because they are *always* a crowd pleaser). I believe everyone completed at least the first 6 circuits. Using the chart below, find the number of circuits you completed (based on the first exercise in your last full circuit) to see your total reps. If you completed all 13 sets — I’m looking at you Titan and Ponch (and maybe Mulligan?) — you did a total of 1,000 reps including the warmup. BZ!

Thanks to all the men at today’s workout for participating in the round robin for post-workout prayer and not letting the deaprting cars be an obstacle to giving everyone a chance to offer up a praise or petition. It’s nice to see everyone acknowledging something more important or bigger then themselves in this world. Be sure to have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend and offer up an additional prayer for all those who lost their lives so that we could live ours more abundantly.

THUNDERSTORM CLEANUP

  • Ponch did a standard and completed all 13 sets while wearing a weighted vest. Impressive young man!
  • Amen lost 5# this week and is looking downright slim. He has almost inspired YHC to get started.
  • For all the grief I give Titan, he gets credit for pushing Ponch to finish strong. Hats off to you sir!
  • The Force’s neighbor intentionally snubbed him on the monthly challenge by calling his own audible on the Hip Dips. Well played sir!
  • Bel-Air has not missed a weekday workout since starting 3 weeks ago. Not bad for a 40-something, but 70? Hell to the yeah!
  • 9-Lives and Goat both joined us today before heading into the station for a 24-hour shift. We are honored (and thanks for your military service)!
  • Mulligan bailed on the 4 Banger and then crushed the kettlebells. Way to represent the running crowd!
  • Rocket called YHC out for a cadence-free workout. I mean, I called cadence during warmups, but I’ll take the criticism and improve upon it
  • Topgun pointed out in the first round that we did more curls at Samson this week. Hopefully we was satisfied with the 96 reps he would complete by 0615 — although its true we omitted the Tomcat trivia
