Concentric tempo laps

Event Date

Feb 22, 2023

6 gloom warriors hit the gloom precisely at 0530 and did stuff

Warm up mosey past the track (whaaaaaaat) and head out the backside around Bradley Middle.

Circle up for some standard warmorama fare:  SSHx15ic, Windmillx10ic, ISTx10ic

The thang:  some fast and slow concentric laps.  Head into neighborhood off of Jim Kidd Rd.  Group standard jog around the middle nieghborhood island.  Then go into a tempo run around the neighborhood perimeter.   Plank 1 minute.  Repeato on the loops and plank.  Flapjack to standard group jog around the neighborhood perimeter and tempo around the middle neighborhood island.  Plank 1 minute.  Tempo run around the neighborhood perimeter for good measure.  Group standard jog back to launch site.

  • Concentric tempo laps.  Yeah I said it.  That’s what we did.  Luda’s got game, not matter what other Qs say.  They mock what they don’t understand.  They fear what they can’t handle.
  • Got a Luda approved 3.35 miles in with a mixture of jog, tempo and core strengthening.
  • Great to see MQ Emeritus, Black Eyed Pea back out at his creation.
  • Five of us launch and head out the back of the track into the dark trail leading to Bradley.  It’s an eerie setting.  Tensions were high and fear palpable. All of the sudden we hear the panting of a beast coming up behind us.  Can we pick up the pace to out run it?  No, we are men of a certain age and tempo can’t happen until the joints loosen up.  After surrendering to the inevitable truth that we are about to be consumed by a demigorgan, Tuffy gives a brave look over his shoulder and discovers that it was just Tantrum huffing and puffing to catch up.
  • Drebin is fast and it is officially recognized as he as now signed an NIL deal with Appropriate Wear
  • What I learned today:  Ludicrous Speed has always had an unwritten, yet oft spoken, rule that if anyone beats Drebin in a tempo lap then we can stop and go get coffee.  YHC came with some game theory strategy and entered a new neighborhood that Drebin wasn’t familiar with; thereby forcing Drebin to hold back on the tempo run.  Enter Tantrum who knew the route and legged out the victory.  Did we stop?  No.  Did the pax want to stop?  No.  But that little aspect has been an element of second F and comraderie at Ludicrous Speed.   So be like the Luda pax.  Add elements of fun and comraderie into your AO.  It gives it character.  It makes it family.
    • If you don’t understand what I am saying, then come join us at 0530 Wednesdays at Richard Barry Park
