Defecting to the Original F3 Taco Tuesday

Event Date

May 08, 2018

I'm writing this shortly after returning from the original F3 Taco Tuesday because if I wait much longer, I'm going to be sound asleep!

YHC decided to venture way outside the borders to enjoy Taco Tuesday with the originators and to see if he could keep pace with Mona Lisa. The destiantion today was Sabor Latih Street Grill on Hawthorne Ln. I was excited not only because the food at Sabor is good, one is opening in Huntersville (the old Salsaritas location, across from Spirited Cyclist) and another is opening in the PRoD (where Ming's used to be, near Char-Grill).

I was the last to arrive. Roadie and Ramrod were seated and already enjoying their taocs while Turncoat and Mona Lisa were in line to order theirs. Getting there at 11:45 was a good call as the place is small and fills up quickly, at least it did today. I ordered six tacos out of the gate. Once mine were ordered I asked ML how many he ordered…10!! Dangit, I knew I was going to have to go back for more.

The tacos come out quickly and are a good size. I went with 2 shredded chicken, 2 ground beef, and 2 barbacoa beef. The barbacoa was the clear winner. Thanks Turncoat for the tip on barbacoa during F3 LKN's first trip to Carrburritos. I made pretty quick work of my 6 tacos and was getting up to order my next round when Mona Lisa rose to order more, he was not going to let me keep pace. I ordered 4 more (2 barbacoa and 2 chorizo) while he ordered 3 more. Lawn Dart also went back for another round, while the rest of the guys quietly enjoyed this dispaly of Taco Love gluttony.

I'm not sure of the count by the other guys but I know that Mona Lisa ate 13 to my 10…23 tacos between two guys that are on the lower end of the Clydesdale scale!

I learned a few valuable lessons today. In spite of what Ramrod said, it's not really about the tacos, the Uptown crowd adhere's to the rules of Taco Tuesday, only order tacos…no burritos or taco salads. The other thing I learned is…Mona Lisa can put away the tacos! Smart money is on him when we finally hold the F3LKN Taco Eating Competition.

Thanks for letting me join you guys today, always good to break bread with a few F3 brothers.

Now, time to lay down and nap, those 10 tacos hurt me more than Titan did during his surprise Q in the PRoD this AM.
