Definition of Bootcamp

12 of the fittest pax in all of Isotope redefined bootcamps at The Mighty Oak. Here is their story:

Matlock and YHC met The Standard for ~3 miles. Awesome morning brother. Appreciate the run & coffee afterwards. Then the headlights filled the GOE parking lot. Circled the wagons with the usual dynamic warmup and then circled up for SSH, IST, long snappers, and burpees. The Thang was as promised…The Michigan with pain after every second sprint. Matlock, Big Montana, Dingo led the way while Crocs, Estwing and others stole the show on a well timed sprint or two:

10 x 100 yard sprints
8 x 80 yard sprints
6 x 60 yard sprints
4 x 40 yard sprints
2 x 20 yard sprints

We interspersed pain after every return trip to “the line,” hitting all the major food groups and finished with Mary. 15 total burpees by my count. It wasn’t enough to satisfy Roadie. Or maybe it was too much. It spawned a debate of whether this morning could be classified as a boot camp. Crocs argued 60% running is the line. YHC shows we ran for ~16 min of the 45 which puts us around 35% running. Well within the confines of a bootcamp vs. run with pain but YHC could always be convinced otherwise.

Dingo’s 2.0 made a cameo with the neighbor’s girl. They had their own thang going with an early morning run. He has this middle school thang figured out. Strong work!

It was AWESOME to have Magnus and Dry Rub back in the gloom…welcome back kotter! Thank you to Estwing (and in a roundabout way Lego – heal up brother) for the opportunity to Q. If you need help with MQ responsibilities, go check out The Mighty Oak. Estwing is crushing it. Thanks to the LFC Men’s Ministry for the EH (email headlock in my case) and to the pax for the constant encouragement and motivation.

Prayers up for all those struggling to find a meal, company, or a roof over their heads this holiday season. Crocs gave us a nice reminder of where we should be focused over the next two weeks. We also lifted up all of those struggling with loss this holiday season, especially those dealing with the loss of a mom. Go be a light and have a positive impact on someone else today. You’ve got exactly what they need. All you have to do is give it away. Until the next time…
