Denver Mustang September Murph

Event Date

Sep 26, 2016

11 then 10 posted for this months #TheMurph

FNG-1 is actually "Mile High" Josh who isn't an FNG but needs to register on F3 Isotope site.  This was his first Murph.  Closer posted but realized his foot isn't ready and drove back home to the fartsack.  Without Abrams there today no PR's were had as we had no rabbit to chase.

We started about 2 minutes late due to weather conditions.  YHC was seeing lighting off in the distance and needed to consult the weather map to determine if the workout would proceed.  Luckily the storm appeared as if it were moving away from us, and about to crush the rest of Isotope.  Later we discovered that the storm was still kinda brewing on top of us.  This laid a good foundation to discuss fear for a reflection.

One PAX member may have had an indecent exposure on the grounds of the Elementary School, whose name may need to be  changed to Tinkle, but I'm not going to mention any names… I guess you have to #Show2Know.

Anyway, here is your reflection:

If you know me at all, you will know that I thrive off of failure.  I also used to have a fear of failure, in a big way.  I'm not totally over my fear of failure, but I do a lot better.  Through understanding I have learned that when we fail, we are made stronger. We don't make the same mistakes over and over and over again.  Or maybe we do, but at least with each successive failure perhaps we come closer to the mark.  To fail, according to Webster, means: “to fall short, to be unsuccessful, to disappoint expectations, to be inadequate or become bankrupt.”  According to that definition, the failure rate of the human race is 100 percent!

One area that I love failure, and I think most of you do too, is out here in the gloom.  We push ourselves and each other past the point of being able to do it on our own.  We fail ourselves but our brothers are right there to pick us back up.

1 Samuel 17 4-11

4A champion named Goliath, who was from Gath, came out of the Philistine camp. His height was six cubits and a span.a 5He had a bronze helmet on his head and wore a coat of scale armor of bronze weighing five thousand shekelsb ; 6on his legs he wore bronze greaves, and a bronze javelin was slung on his back. 7His spear shaft was like a weaver’s rod, and its iron point weighed six hundred shekels.c His shield bearer went ahead of him.

8Goliath stood and shouted to the ranks of Israel, “Why do you come out and line up for battle? Am I not a Philistine, and are you not the servants of Saul? Choose a man and have him come down to me. 9If he is able to fight and kill me, we will become your subjects; but if I overcome him and kill him, you will become our subjects and serve us.” 10Then the Philistine said, “This day I defy the armies of Israel! Give me a man and let us fight each other.” 11On hearing the Philistine’s words, Saul and all the Israelites were dismayed and terrified

We all know how that story ended.  With God on your side you can overcome whatever fear you think you may have.  So what is your fear?  Go crush it!
