Do you have a personal cinder block

Event Date

Oct 17, 2022

Hear ye, Hear ye – there is a quality workout to be had every Monday morning at the Birkdale clubhouse. Tammy Faye runs a tight ship, in the midst of his 8+ mile runs these days. Personal cinder blocks optional, but showing up with your own is a power move.

The Thang

As pre-blasted, YHC delivered a GRIP and Core-tastic workout. There was a dynamic warm up, including merkins and Bam Bams. Lots of farmers carrying, some running, hanging and core work. Some burpees were thrown in for fun. Two Pax even went over the A-frame for additional fun.

Quite the cast of characters in attendance today:

  • FNG Ray. YHC failed in his attempt to get the FNG to spill Merlot, although he came close a number of times. Ray was a good sport – wouldn't be shocked to see him come back, although may to a differnet AO given he lives in Mooresville and passed a number of AOs on his way. Like a good MQ, Tammy Faye had the FNG come to his workout instead of trekking somewhere else to meet in the middle. YHC happened to meet FNG Ray at church yesterday when Ray came to pick up his daughter from Sunday School. You can imagine YHC's surprise on seeing him again the next morning in the gloom.
  • Self-proclaimed Muffin Top was there for the whole thing, working on that core and getting ready to be a spartan.
  • Speaking of getting rid of the softness, Squishmellow joined us halfway through his run and ran circles around the Q.
  • Roadie last cut his hair in September…of 2019
  • Dingo fittingly brought his dingo
  • Gambini performed a number of magical acts, including diappearing on Titan (the AO not the Pax)
  • Sac is just about the weirdest nickname going, a young bald fellow named after a female Native American scout. Although he could be Sack Daddy, who apparently is a registered Pax on the F3 LKN website. What do you have to do to earn that name?

Sac decided to donate YHC's conder block to the Arnie's AO, so there is now a total of 8 normal sized blocks. There are another 8 or so big boy blocks, which will remain there until Qbert decides to visit Lake Norman or SwampFox discovers them.

TAP

Prayers were lifted for Peter. And a quick word of encouragement from Psalm 23:1-2 offered:

The Lord is my Shepherd, I will not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul. Because God watches over us, we will not lack what we need. He will provide and leads us to places of rest and restoration. We don't have the strength within ourselves to be able to get there on our own. Knowing this, we can find rest and peace. The weight of the world is not on our shoulders, it is on His. Amen to that.

Additional thought for the day – a cinder block is an excellent, cheap alternative weight. Given how the cost of gym weights and kettlebells have gone up considerably the past few years, it is an important part of F3 workouts. Kudos to the Pax that started that trend.
