Reflection

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.  James 4:13-17

It sounds like James is telling us to change how we talk when we commit to things, by prefacing or ending all of our statements with “Lord willing”. But, I don’t think this is what James is really telling us. He really wants us to see how futile our ambitions are apart from God, in our own strength and with our own agendas. Instead, James is telling us to focus on chasing God, knowing Him, listening to Him speak to us, and doing His will, in His timing. This is where you will find a fulfilling life that transcends time and will never fade away.

MC

Before the start, Mater went looking for an open bathroom to no avail. He seemed really concerned about having to cut the workout short for a QT break. Fortunately, he held on like a champ, I guess.

YHC maybe only got an hour of sleep – the combined result of an eventful Sunday, excitement to Q another workout, and a 2.0 up in the middle of the night puking. Maybe it was the hotdogs, or maybe the Chinese takeout… college kids, amirite?

As predicted by the group, Clark rolled in just in time to miss Side Straddle Hops. Though, he did come out of his car donning a surgical mask. We weren’t sure if he was protecting us from him, or himself from us. But a solid alibi/ruse nonetheless.

Sparrow came ready to rock and roll. I can tell he was really into the playlist. A solid workout.

Marker was a bit quiet today, but focused solidly on each exercise, with near perfect form. He was totally locked in.

Toto, Rebound, Clark, and Tickle sped down the track with relative ease, quickly gapping the rest by at least a good half lap. I figured they would have lapped the chasers at some point, but I suppose the pain stations slowed them down a bit. As it was, not much mumblechatter was overheard from those guys by YHC. I hope to be able to hang tight with the younger PAX soon. It won’t be long before the chasers become the chased.

As always, an honor.
