Double the Qs, Double the Surprises, Double the Workout, Double the Pleasure

At 0655, it was on YHC (The Q), and Gnarly Goat. As we exchanged pleasantries we both realized we were there for different reasons. YHC was there to Q while Goat was there to meet others at 0700 to head to higher altitude for a hike. Given both were to start at 0700 we were both concerned…

But alas, vehicles would arrive and Goat would wish us well as 7 of us took off on our own adventure. I hope Goat found his fellow hikers and they have a safe day.

The local adventure looked a little something like this:

Warmorama:

Jog to the wall, warm the testicles with Balls to the Wall.

Recover, SSHs.

Back to the wall – People’s Chair.

Then ISTs, Cotton Pickers TN style, Windmills.

Across to the other wall

Up on the wall – 10 jump squats. Down – 1 merkin

Yeah, the ladder.

Down the hill to the hill.

One 8 count body builder at the bottom.

Quadro to the top – 15 burpees.

Tease the ladder… then mosey to the pax’s relief

Down to the traffic circle

Hey look – a rope and a kettle bell!

1 on the rope 1 on the KB, pax lap

Yep til everyone has had a turn.

Jog back up. Stop as needed for pax.

Need a new, younger Q!  Blocks and bars. Mix of LOTS OF PULLUPs, some curls, incline merkins with plank walks, more pullups, and more pull-ups.

Finally time for Mary. Can opener LBCs, hip dips and box cutters. Finish with some much needed stretch.

The moleskine:

Awesome pax trickery and epic Q fail as YHC ran down the hill, got to the street, and as YHC turned to call “next exercise” the pax was nowhere to be found.  YHC was forced to run back up the hill, and found the pax hidden behind the corner awaiting my arrival doing monkey humpers. Truly excellent move by the pax.

Rocket heeded the warning of a 2-hr workout crammed into 1 and arrived after 30 mins. Smart move.

This shouldn’t be his last post of the Summer – got a few days left – but likely Zare’s last chance to Q for a while. I’ve truly enjoyed having him by my side this Summer, pushing each other to be better and stronger mentally, physically and spiritually. But this began many years before the Summer. Let me know when you sign up for a Saturday Q in Chapel Hill, son. I will be there.

Prayers:

Crab Legs and entire family.

Gavin’s family, friends, teammates and community in Mooresville.

Brady and his fight against brain cancer. Your family and the entire LNC community is behind you.
