Exploring Excelsior’s Back Roads and Woods

Celebrating 2 years of Black Eyed Pea's leadership at Excelsior (with an assist from Jolly Roger), we had a triple down today at Excelsior / The Estate.  The Isotope PAX as always proved that we have an abundance of strong runners.  Here is their story for legs 1 and 2 of "Triple Crown Triple Down" Saturday:

0500:  A roughly 10k (6.2 mile) standard run where we went beyond Jim Kidd rock and onto Neck Road.  The route was hilly but there was only minimal complaining!  Garmin link here:

There were 12 PAX for the 5 AM standard: 9 Lives, Calypso, DonHo, Fenway, Jingle Bells, Jolly Roger, Lex Luther, Mini Me, Smokey, Sponge Bob, Tantrum, and YHC.  Great work men!

0600:  Bid farewell to some going to another AO for 0700, some coming back to The Estate at 0700, and some doubling down with another run!  Say hello to a few fresh faces.  For 0600 at the official Excelsior start, we had 14 PAX:

Binary, Black Eyed Pea, DonHo, Dry Rub, Fenway, Hasselhoff, Lex Luther, Magnus, Smash, Snake Eyes, Sponge Bob, Tiramisu, YHC, and FNG Tanner Roberts, now known as "Slurpee".  Slurpee is Hasselhoff's 2.0 and every bit as beastly.

WARM-O-RAMA

We ran to the green way in the Carrington Ridge neighborhood.  YHC had scoped it out with my 2.0s the weekend prior and it seemed like a good route to explore with the PAX.  Unfortunately, much rain had turned it into a mud-way!

Ran until nearly the end of the trail, where we warmed up with:

  • IST x 15 IC
  • Soybean farmers x 15 IC
  • Slow Deep Squats x 25 IC

Reverse course out of the "mud-way", Fenway almost lost a sneaker.  Run out of the south entrance of the Carrington Ridge neighborhood via Carrington Pointe Dr. We ran north on Beatties Ford, then left on Jim Kidd Rd, then left on Kennerly Dr. At the Gazebo in that neighborhood we did:

  • Dips x 20 IC

Ran back to Richard Barry Park and ran 2 laps around the track.  Circle up for:

Mary:

  • Low Flutters until all done with laps (led by Lex Luther)
  • Plank, JLOs x 15 IC.  HOLD for:
  • Shoulder Touch Mericans x 15 IC (thanks Snake Eyes!)
  • LBCs x 25 IC (maybe it was more?)

Recover, recover.  Total distance for the 6:00 AM 2nd leg was 3.67 miles according to my Garmin, link below:

Moleskin:

  1. We prayed for Olive and his family during these incredibly difficult times.  We love you brother.
