Turnpike was up to his usual tricks, booking Qs out as far as the calendar will allow. YHC gave the Ok back in January and it was etched in stone, not penciled in like some Incogs who were recently scheduled to Q and bailed. As their commitment shy leader likes to say, Incogs gonna incog.

YHC planned to take Fartlek to the hills, but exactly which hill wasn’t settled until a ring from Jobe the day before. Jobe had decided to take the Q at FKT and came up with the idea of both AOs running to the same hill for a surprise dual workout. He was concerned the FKT guys wouldn’t be able to keep up, but I told him I’d tire the Fartlek guys on a long route to get there (2 miles!) and it was settled. 

As YHC was driving to Fartlek, the realization hit that Fartlek could be at Winfield clubhouse, not Wynfield Forest. YHC still ain’t sure which is which, but showed up at the right spot, just in time. 

After a 2 mile warmup with one stretch of 80% on, we arrived at Knox Hill. Jobe and the boys were already there putting in work and came out to greet us. From there it was a Smoke(y) show, as one would expect on the hills. Jog the uphill, do 10 tarantulas (jump squat into a bonnie blair =1 rep), then bust it downhill 70-80%. At the bottom do 10 burpees, then repeato until time to go back home. 

Most of the guys got in three reps up and down the hill. Overall the Fartlek guys covered over 4.5 miles plus exercises. FKT slacked and took the short route back. I guess the MQ was gone and they figured they could do what they want. 

Tammy Faye now has a new nickname after his Irish goodbye, in which he left us early to go back to the AO, leaving us wandering Birkdale and McCaulay looking for him. Now known as Tommy O’Faye (said in your best Irish accent)

Also, we coincidentally passed Airwolf on the way back to the AO, and he coincidentally is going to post to Speed Dating tomorrow. 

I love it when a plan comes together.
