Better hold my tongue on this one. Ran a 5k, light shakeout run featuring some hill climbs. Kumquat pressed on for a couple more miles. Prayers for gratitude, our gifts and blessings. Took off over to Paininsula just in time for COT.

Wait, what? There were at least 6-7 runners that came through Gladiator around 0600. Where did they come from if not Fartlek??
We all followed Cubicle for lap 1 on the trails, but after muddy shoes and some disgruntled mumble chatter a mutiny arose to stay on pavement in place of trail running. We all came back to WCH but Cubicle’s truck was gone. Still did a COT and had 14 total. Most got 4-5 miles
This was one of the more bizarre Qs I have witnessed! But like Tammy Faye said, we all got some trail steps in, we all brought some of the trail home with us, there were hills and there were awful hills, and yep – 4-5 miles were had (except by the Q apparently?).
What did the rest of us miss at Paininsula???
But Cubicle still got a BB out early so he’s my favorite Q of the year so far.
1.6 mile loops for 2-4 reps isn’t that bizarre. Was pre blasted as an easy run. Loop was planned so people who wanted to run faster or longer would stay nearby. Some of us aren’t afraid of the dark.
In lieu of calling the Q bizarre I’m pretty inclined to describe the pax as soft. Guys at Berean weren’t thrilled about 55 burpees yesterday but they managed. Hippie and I had a discussion at coffee afterwards as struggles, challenges and uncomfortable times make you stronger. If a 3 yard patch of mud is enough to put you off I’m surprised. My shoes are white and not covered in mud btw.
Guilty as charged – I was soft from the beginning fearing I might turn an ankle on the trail in the dark and my headlamp wasn’t charged. But after running that new area for the first time – I love what they’ve done with it, aside from it emptying out on that horrendous hill (again, guilty of be soft)! So thanks for showing that to us (the new trail, not the hill!).
I’m certainly one in favor of keeping workouts together – bootcamps especially but runs too as much as possible. We’re stronger together.
I’ll be on the lookout for a Cubicle Q in the future and will (do my best to) stay with you.
Pretty classy to slink off behind us without saying anything I must say.
Other PAX in attendance: Die Hard, Ultraman, Mulligan, Beave, Slingshot, Popcorn, Calypso, T-Bone, Jorel, and Pushpop plus myself, The Force, Kumquat, and Cubible.
