Fast Men Getting Faster at HalfLife

Event Date

Jun 22, 2016

As Kumquat travels to Ireland for his new job and turns a year older (no longer a "Hate!"), he needed someone to lead HalfLife.  As is customary for YHC, I shamelessly stole from our captain's "Week 1 Marathon Training Plan".

So here is what went down at HalfLife:

0502 ish:  4 for a 2+ mile run standard:  Creeper, Fenway, Pierogi, and YHC.

0530:  Joined by 4 others, we warmed up with a mile around the track, including a "unity lap" to start us of.  The "unity lap" is a concept I stole from coaching the Let Me Run team at my daughter's school.

Then we did:

6 x 400 meters with 200 meter "recovery jog" in between.

Instructions were as follows:

  • These are not sprints, but it should be work
  • Try to make your 6th 400 as fast as your 1st
  • The recovery jogs in between should be much slower

Then we cooled down with another 1.5 – 2 miles and some stretching.  Total distance was about 5.25 miles according to my Garmin.

Moleskin:

  1. Prayers for Pierogi's mom.
  2. Prayers for Fenway's friend Scott Treon.
  3. Continued prayers for Olive.
  4. Prayers for Kumquat and anyone else in Isotope transitioning jobs / careers.
  5. Happy to share the Marathon Training plan that Kumquat led us through this winter as we prepared for the Nashville Marathon.  I'm sorry if the 400s seemed duplicative of other recent workouts at HalfLife…it just happened to be "Week 1" of 16 for YHC for the next Marathon.
  6. Pierogi and Fenway talked about the Barkley ultra Marathon during The Standard.  Will definitely need to check out the documentary!
  7. Apparently there is a Bourbon Chase team that includes Fenway, Snoopy, Creeper, Lex Luther, Mort, and other fast dudes?  Wow…that's almost unfair.  Snoopy and Creeper crushed it today.
  8. Strong work from 8-track and Tantrum today, hope to see you guys Friday at Odyssey.
  9. Lettuce Wrap, I've only had the pleasure of working out with you at HalfLife a bunch of times.  May I shamelessly invite you to Samson tomorrow for something a little different?  : )

Always a pleasure and honor to run on the same track as you men, thanks for the push and see you soon.
