Fightclub – How it feels

How it feels to be a dying man.  This training block was brutal when YHC went through it.  But that was a long time ago. The main purpose of this training is to force us to keep fighting, keep thinking, keep breathing and relax.  Stress and fear willl tire us out faster and to a greater degree than any other factor in a fight.  And learning to fight on the ground will bring this to light the quickest.  When a life is on the line we overuse our muscle and try to overpower every attack. We must learn to relax, think and response with appropriate force and technique.  This is not easy, especially when it really matters.  But training and practice will allow us to overcome the fatigue trap.

One of the first things we learn when on the ground is that balance still matters.  Striking is not as effective when on the ground so we must take away the balance of the opponenet and limit his ability to harm us in any way serious.  We also must limit the ability for the opponent to move and use rotaional forces to break body parts.  We do this by using a technique called trap fighting.  YHC wont go in to too much detail (#showtoknow) as some techniques can and will cause damage without proper oversight.

We started the morning in the warm confines of "Funny Bones".  Thank you @Chief.  It was too cold to roll around on the cement at The Rock.  Pairing off we practiced techniques to engage, disengage and disable an opponenet on the ground.  Both on top and from the bottom.  Needless to say this became tiring very quickly.  But it was fun.  A few painful situations and a lot of bodiy contact made the time fly bye.  Looking forward to continuing this block, it will get harder as it gets easier.

Thank you for allowing YHC to train with you fine men
