Fightclub – lets fight a bit

Event Date

Jan 17, 2020

This backblast is very late, but I'll try to keep up to date with them in the future. So, one thing about training to fight is that we actually need to fight at times. So today we started picking things up and went over the reality of a fight. Aggression without anger is key, but more importantly is to remember the things we practice and don't try to make things up as we go along. So to make success more likely we will go over some of the things that should be done and things to watch out for.

We started standing up, which is where most fights begin. Attacking is the same as defending. Our hands, legs and body will all do the same thing. Except instead of blocking and destroying the attacking object,, we will control any liabilities and then destroy the targets as we move. And there is the rub, most people when in a crisis situation like being attacked,,, will not move their feet much. Standing still and not moving in, back or laterally will limit our abilities and leave us open for attack. We practiced moving in and then into angles of attack and arcs. Flex your legs, weight on the balls of the feet and don't extend your attacks beyond your balance. Use your legs and hips to generate the power in the strike and move.  The natural step will eventually create the rotation that we want in a strike. And then there are the targets. Pick a few to focus on and go from one to the other until it is natural.
after this went on and practiced going to the ground… yes most fights will go to the ground especially if you don't destroy the attackers arms and legs during the initial attack. So as we are going to the ground we must take control of the balance and also,, very important , trap or control a body part so that when on the ground we are not at risk of most snake style (mma) attacks. Control the hips of the attacker with your knees or feet and take the balance away. We went over a variety of defenses and attacks from the ground and the transition.

We will be continuing these training techniques in the weeks to come. They are important and we will have much fun battling each other as we learn to defeat these attacks. Come out and join in the fun.

As always it is an honor to train with you fine men
