Fightclub – second of three

Event Date

Aug 14, 2020

Fighting isn't as easy as it seems. And learning to fight can be awkward and confusing. Especially since we must learn to do at least 4 things at a time. That is why the drills become so important. We must train the body to act independent of thought so we can focus on what is happening and what we want to occur. Right now we are moving from doing two things at once to three. We are also moving from the first set of three (strikes and moves) to the second set of three. Eventually this will all make sense and the third set will come automatically.
The drills that we have been doing (for a while) are the start of the process. And today we added the movement as the drills are performed. And yes, mistakes occur because we are focusing on moving and we forget what the hands are supposed to do. Our minds have a difficult time focusing on three things at once. But as the drills continue the movement became less mechanical and more fluid. At that point we can focus on moving to the second set of three. Attacking the legs is a great way to transition to the second set. And it also teaches us to use our legs for more than just moving from one position to anothe. In a real fight it will be important to disrupt the integrity of the legs so that we can better control and dismantle the body of the attacker.
It is always an honor to train with you fine men. Thank you for the chance to share this system with all of you.
