Fightclub – training is fighting

The weather was nice this morning, but only two warriors decided to take on the challenge to make each other better.  We practice to improve ourselves and we train to improve each other.  So this morning we focused on the drills that would push the skills that would be needed to bring an altercation to a successful conclusion.

The hand techniques are important but are only a part of the necessary components of each move or attack.  What becomes increasingly more important is the basics,,, movement, rotation and balance.  Without these the success rate will be very low.  But today we focused on a the concept of controlling and awareness of the opponents weapons (anything he can hit you with).  We must learn to keep track of all movement parts even when we can not see them.  This allows us to understand the options the opponent has when taking action against us.  At first this is difficult but becomes second nature with practice.

A new set of blocking to to the outside with movement was introduced,  giving us another option to move and control and opponent.  We then introduced what is definded as "sentry destruction" techniques.  With these moves we move to the rear of the attacker once disabling the attack,  then control the head or neck and initiating a rather damaging set of attacks that will leave the attacker less than healthy.  Care must be taken to control the balance and shoulders of the attacker to limit his ability to effectively deter the oncoming damage to fairly important body parts.

These drills were then followed by combination drills that allow you to initiate an attack that leads to a natural progression of lethality.  Once again limiting the options for the opponent to change the intended outcome.  Some realistic counters were deployed to show the most likely response from the opponent.  These was an important section that displayed the futility of the possible counters when the correct hand position, balance and movement were used.  Fighting becomes a natural extension of the way a person thinks,  and by expanding the options a person can depend on will clearly increase the likelihood of a positive outcome (for us,,, not for the attacker).

Thank you for giving YHC the ability to share this art with you find men.  I truly enjoy the training
