Firefighter Training – Part 2 – The Professional

Plus Rogue, STP

Pre-Workout – warning about planned 5k total distance for tonight's workout not well received by PAX.  Decided not to mention up hill both ways.

Warm-Up

20xSSH, 15xMC, Stretch

Divide into two groups: Fire Station 1 and 2

FIREDRILL – chop feet, drop, roll right, merkin, roll left, merkin

The Thang
Double column RUN by Station 1 and 2 professional firefighter trainees to Davidson College outdoor basketball courts.

Test 1:  Pole dancing

Station 1 at North Pole, Station 2 at South Pole.  Timed event.  Use human ladder to get each team members eyeballs above horizontal support for basketball hoop, then each guy slides down the basketball hoop vertical support pole.  Support poles are massive 8 inch pipes.  TWSS.  Station 2 slightly faster than 1, but both pass.

Double column RUN to upper soccer field.

Test 2:  Humping heavy things

Station 1 at west side of field, Station 2 at east side of field.  Timed event.  Each Station picks up soccer goal at their side of the field and runs it across to the other side of the field.  Station 1 slightly faster than Station 2, but both pass.

Double column RUN to Davidson cross country trail top of heartbreak hill.

Test 3:  Hold my hose

Station 1 picks up massive tree truck on right side of trail.  Station 2 picks up massive tree truck on left side of trail.  Timed event.  Run down the trail to base of hill carrying trees and sprint up the hill in team tree carry.  Station 1 clearly faster on the hill but tie overall with Station 2 and both pass.  It was really dark and we were carrying giant trees.  Unlimited opportunities for TWSS comments.

Double column RUN back to upper soccer fields.  Mumble mumble, Something something about hills.  Lighting was good at field.  Field was like a soft carpet, so did FIREDRILL instead of soccer goal carry.  Double column RUN back to outdoor basketball courts and repeato of pole dance.  Poles a lot slicker and sweatier now.  TWSS.

RUN back to The Green for some Mary and Merkins.

COT: Thank you for safe delivery of Hawkeyes grandson No 2 Noah and in general remembering to say thanks for our many blessings, including $2 beer night at Summit.
