Lots of great mumblechatter. I’m often taken aback at how fun getting a beatdown is, but it wasn’t always this fun. My first day with F3, I was quickly reminded of how out of shape I was. Even the trip to the block pile wore me out. I also remember how impossible it was to run around the school building, not even making it around the first turn! It was pretty crazy honestly. Even making it around the track was fairly difficult for me. Though, I also recall several who would always circle back for me and encourage me along the way. Today, though, I’m a lot stronger than I was then and doing things I would have never considered able to do back then. And, while I do see a need to stay healthy and am motivated to continue gaining more strength and speed, I find that I’m more motivated to wake up at 5am just to be able to be among my friends, my brothers.
Having said all this, I want to quote Clubber (Q at my first post) on a few great points he left in his backblast;
- Be patient, but be persistent. If you know someone is struggling, reach out…text, call, go over, just offer.
- Talk, but most of all listen. Don’t just hear….really listen, someone needs you.
- There is a PAX that looks up to you, regardless of who you are. If you’re reading this, yes you, …some other PAX looks up to you and needs you, at workouts, 2nd F, 3rd F, dinner, breakfast, coffee, a text, etc.
So, I’ll just leave it with that and add that I am really thankful to have found you guys. More than you’ll ever know, finding you was an answer to what seems to have been a lifelong prayer. I know I’m not alone at saying that. I just want to encourage you all to keep going and let's have fun doing this. Reach out to those brothers we haven’t seen in a while. As Clubber said, there IS ALWAYS someone in the group that is looking up to you, even if you feel like that’s not likely. I look up to pretty much all of you and it’s an honor to lead and even to be among such fine men. I’ve been slacking a bit nursing some injuries (and sometimes making excuses if I’m being honest), but I intend to make a better effort at being a better brother and friend going forward.
Thank you all so much! Looking forward to seeing what another year will bring us!
