Expectations for a solid turnout were low, given the weekend's event schedule, but at 6:57, Moses rolls in ready for action. Soprano follows at 6:59 and Mr. Holland at 7:02. That made the prospect of a game of ultimate possible, because a one-man team doesn't really work. Outsource rolled in at 7:06, inspired by a text message from YHC late yesterday (be careful giving me your digits!)
- Run around the field
- Home Stretch
- Girl Fights
- Merkins
- Pirate Ship Rides
GAME ON!
Ultimate is not a game for the timid, the sluggish, or the slow. We put the two tall men (Moses and Mr. Holland) on one team and the three normal-sized men on the other, but that didn't stop Team Tall from going 3-0 in short order. To their credit, they are also agile, fast, have huge vertical jumps, and are deadly accurate with a disc. So we broke up the monopoly and YHC joined with Moses, making for a much fairer marketplace. From a 3-0 lead, Moses and YHC gave up four in a row to tie it up. Just before Mr. Holland had to bolt for other commitments, his team got one more score to take the win: 5-4.
Moses suggested some bootcamp activities (probably worn out from 2.5 miles of full-on sprinting) and so. . .
- Two sets of Partner Push-Pulls to half field (we'll feel these in the quads tomorrow)
- Soprano gave us Cackalacka Choo Choos across the field
- Various Mary's by Pax choice
For the final exercise, Soprano opted to be the most hated man at Bailey Road Park by opting for 15 burpees, and we dutifully complied.
RECOVER RECOVER
A COT with various prayer requests and a call for gratitude and assistance to others was followed by a meeting at Waterbean, sans Moses (who had a last-minute call to action) and Outsource (who had other plans). We discussed nothing and everything, then decided to pay a visit to our other families.
Thanks for showing up, gents! That's a helluva workout and a lot of fun. Swing State has football scheduled for November 10, so be on the lookout for that!
