Gears Gone Wild

Event Date

May 06, 2016

The second ride of the Gears season started off chilly enough. An unseasonably cool 50 degrees is perfect for a F3 bootcamp workout, but not so for a ride. gloves, head bands, base layers, toe covers, and jackets were in order. The route would be modified from last week to allow for more coffee time. As planned, we rolled out from the library parking lot at 0600.The Thang (route):South Street > Greenway > Avinger > Pine > Patrick Johnson > Greenway > Robert Walker > River Run > E. Rocky River > Shearer > Gray > Concord Rd > END Moleskin: – t-claps for Paul Shaffer (not listed above) who busted his ass to get up Gray Rd on his first ride of the year. Nice work, brother. – My computer was not registering, so details of the ride – distance, time, avg spd – will remain a mystery for at least another week. – In addition to Paul Shaffer, Moonlight and Bada Bing made their maiden ride this season. All three wore matching chartreuse yellow jackets. I think we’ll call them Glowfriends from here on out.- Our numbers increased from 5 to 6 this week, but we still felt a bout 430 lbs light as Crude and Duvall (who were HC’s) were noticeably absent. – Swampthing wins the award for overdressing. Riding jacket over a sweatshirt, over a jersey, over a girdle. All in all a great ride. once we got going, body parts warmed up, and all was well with the world.
