Get Hard

Event Date

Feb 21, 2024

Another audible Q at the ‘Stang started off with Sparrow warming us up:

Windmills,  Cotton Pickers, Monkey Humpers (Bertha shows up), Shoulder taps, Mt. Climbers, Up and Down Dogs, Right and Left Sun (Star) salutes, Calf raises on the steps

Sensing some crawling would be required if Sparrow continued to lead, I asked to take over and proceeded to make up a get hard mainly upper body workout that has left me already sore.

Short lap around the parking lot, down the gravel road to the blocks.

Every man gets two blocks and carries them to the pull up bars (already harder than it sounds)

We stacked the blocks under the pull up bars and proceeded to knock out 10 reps of different style pull ups, using the blocks to assist when required.  Bars were frosty and slick.

After at least 4 sets, mosey across the field and back carrying one or both blocks.

Re stack the blocks and more sets of 10 pullups, assist as required with feet on the blocks.

A break from pullups consisted of block push ups, block chest presses, block skull crushers.

Back on the bars for more sets of 10 pullups, assist as required with feet on the blocks.

5 block burpees and time is getting short

Carry blocks back to the stack.

Short lap mosey back to launch pad, with time just past 6:15.

Mumble:

As usual it was inspiring to watch Sparrow crank through all this and still lugging the blocks back to the pile like a champ.  Dirt, the 2nd oldest man there, never mumbled a complaint, chose the small blocks which hurt on the pullups but are easier on the rest of the work.  Bertha pushed hard and still out ran everybody to the launch pad and probably isn’t even sore.  Travolta battled freezing hands and discovered assist pull ups get you just as sore and any others.  It was F3 at its winter best.

Reflection:

Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 9:6: For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, El Gibbor (the Mighty El or God Almighty), the Everlasting Father, Sar Shalom (the Prince of Peace).

Prayers for friends and brothers in the community as in instructed in Ya’aqov (James) 5:14: Is any sick among you?  Let him call for the Elders of the called out assembly; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of Yahua.
