26 Pax were represented at #Gladiator this morning for a first round QvsQ between Tantrum and Toby. Here’s what went down:
Welcome/Disclaimer/Warmarama (IC):
-Side Straddle Hop x30 (60)
-Slow Wind Mill x8
-Toy Soldier x20 (40)
-‘Merican’s x10 (20)
Toby led the first half (as chosen by Tantrum) so let’s roll!
Mosey to Checkpoint 1 to play with cones and balls.
20 cones were set up 6 feet apart in two lines (20 on each side). The starting line was 10 feet before the first cone. Each cone had a ball under it with an exercise written on it. The Pax were divided into two teams. When the Q gave the sign to begin, each team sent a player to sprint out to retrieve a tennis ball from any cone, but only one of the cones (Pax could choose to sprint to any cone in any order). Once everyone had completed the exercise written on the tennis ball, then the next Pax in line sprinted to retrieve another tennis ball from another cone of his choosing. Teams could not send anyone to retrieve until all teammates have finished the specified exercise. While their teammate sprinted for the ball, all Pax did Side Straddle Hops. The first team to complete all cones and all exercises wins.
Exercises included:
-1 lap around the island
-Low flutter
-‘Mericans
-Squats
-Chest Press
-Overhead press
-Skull Crushers
-Curls
-MH’s
-LBC’s
-WWII’s
-Pickle pounder
-Jackknife LBC’s
-Plank jacks
-Burpees
-Calf raises
-Mountain climbers
-Freddie Mercury
-Inchworms
-Reverse lunges
Once all balls were collected from each cone, the match was over. The losing team was graced with 10 burpees.
Toby directed all Pax to sprint a lap down to the island and back-just because.
Toby then called Hollow Holds x2 with a 10 second hold/count for each.
Lastly, a mobility moment was held with the joy of the pigeon (each leg) and catcher’s pose.
Toby yielded to Tantrum to Q the second half.
Tantrum used the cones and did a burpee wave thingy kind of challenge.
He then issued a Zamperini challenge to see which Pax could hold their blocks above their head the longest (with overhead press pain stations spread throughout). Carpetbagger showed off his one arm skills-because he can.
Tantrum then directed the teams to shuttle their blocks and also carry 3 men to the end of the island. Then, he asked the teams to do either a Farmer’s carry or Zamperini a lap and back with blocks competing against a Pax from each team until one team got all Pax back.
Tantrum instructed Pax to do WWII’s.
He then instructed the teams to have each Pax hold in a plank to see who could do so the longest.
Tantrum then called Pigeon (wait, the Pax had done that already too?). We’ll, I guess there can never be enough pigeon…

COT/Namarama
Moleskin:
Ponch, Amen, Titan, Popcorn, and YHC showed up earlier for some standard action. Titan and Popcorn had to leave early though.
The gloom was like a homecoming today. It was great seeing some Pax who haven’t been back in a while (some a few weeks, and some a few years). There were newly named Pax who were present too. The W was great today, but seeing everyone together was the highlight of my morning. Mumble-chatter was also abound!
Thanks to Carpetbagger for formally handing over the keys to the AO today. We appreciate all that you have done for us brother.
Tantrum was a fierce competitor. Even if he helped name me (for which I am not complaining about, but Gambini got the better deal that day), he is a solid dude and F3 brother that we all look up to and respect. Great job today man!
Whiskey Tango is not in the system yet, but was present and accounted for.
Thanks to Omega for officiating and for Honeysuckle Blue yielding his planned Q at Gladiator today for QvsQ. I’m proud of him for pushing and still showing up even with his hip issues-a good reminder of the 2nd F. We always need our brothers and improv is always welcomed.
