Goal Tending at Bailey Road Park

FNG-1 = Phil Harrington

11 pax emerged from the not so gloomy morning, mostly to see if our longest-running EH would post for his first F3 workout. The Standard saw high participation with Thug, Jethro, Riverboat, Shaken, and Outlaw running 2-3 miles. Our FNG could only shake his head that anyone would workout before the workout. I mean, it's kinda nonsensical.

After the captains (KleanUp, Outlaw, SwingState) chose teams and the teams geared up with discs, we proceeded to the upper soccer field for some form runs (butt kicks, high knees, backward run, karaoke) and basic warmup exercises, including Toy Soldiers, windmills, Mericans, Knee-ups, & Slow Squats…all exercises to 7 (the perfect number, the number of completion…more on numerology during the COT).

Each team tested out their discs for a few throws before we moseyed to the 1st disc golf tee box. Commence controlled chaos. We tracked wins & losses. The winning team was the team with the most favorable differential between wins/losses. Teams took turns throwing. The goal was to get to the basket first. The number of throws didn't matter. However, after each miss, the team had to complete an exercise (usually ten reps). We alternated between chest, legs, and abs. I'm estimating we did 150 chest reps, 150 leg reps, and 170 ab reps…and covered about 2 miles.

Results:

  1. The Win went to Team SwingState (incl Thug & Shaken not Stirred). Congrats.
  2. Place went to Team Outlaw (incl Riverboat, Jethro, & Kosar)…aka, Team Let's Play Not to Lose.
  3. Show was the honor of Team KleanUp (incl YHC, Waffle and FNG Phil). We didn't do much cleaning up.

With only 3 teams representing, we were all on the podium.

Moleskin:

  • Thanks to Shake for goaltending my putt on the 5th hole, or we might not have had any wins. j/k – it was going in, really!
  • Riverboat should've quit after his first throw, hitting the basket from 25 yards to give his team an unlikely birdie and their first skin.
  • Your benevolent Nantan provided a free clinic on the 1st tee box, which Outlaw put to good use.
  • Phil proved to be a ringer. If only we could have had him throw more often.
  • Big Mean – I'm happy to report there were no turned ankles or other injuries to fund your next home addition.
  • Congrats to Kosar on the weight loss and number of workouts…what are you up to? 39 in 41 days?
  • Outlaw recommended The Bible in a Year w/Father Mike Schmitz, where he learned on Day 100 that there was meaning to the 153 fish Jesus caused his disciples to catch…The number 153 is the numerical total for the Hebrew words "Ani Elohim"–I AM G-D.
  • Swing State asked that we be more intentional in inviting ALL MEN to F3 rather than just the men we commonly run into in our neighborhoods and daily routines. The men we most commonly come in contact with are most likely to be like us. Find others and give F3 away!
  • Phil – I think I can speak for many of the men in F3 whose lives you've so greatly impacted through your ministry in our schools. We are excited to welcome you to F3 and look forward to sharing this crazy fitness, genuine fellowship, and shared faith for many years. See you next Saturday if not sooner.
  • Finally, we missed you Jersey Boy. SYITG
