AO

FNG's Randy (EH'd by Moses) and Joe (found on course)

On a muggy Saturday morning, 9 men gathered and prepared for a spirited match of disc golf, complete with plenty of running and pain along the way.  First, we selected 3 mid-range discs and began our adventure, which started at the Bailey Soccer fields.  Here's what we did:

Warm-O-Rama

Just to get FNG Randy the taste of a full workout, we circled up on the upper field for some side straddle hop, imperial storm troopers, and long snappers.  On our way to the disc golf course, we took turns throwing discs on the field to get a sense of how they fly.  Better for some than for others.

The Thang:
Starting at hole 1, we picked teams of three, which were:

Team 1: Mr. Holland, Kosar, Titan

Team 2: Moses, Randy, Knockout

Team 3: Waffle, Roadie, The Count

We decided that the team that one the hole would pick the exercise for the next hole, which meant doing a reasonable amount of an exercise for all team members before each throw (alternating throws between team members) — the exercise count to be verified or adjusted by the Q (just in case).

Through about 12 holes, Team 1 dominated and so got to pick a lot of exercises, which included variations of Mericans, squats, lunges, LBCs, etc.  Team 2 I think won a couple holes, and Team 3, well, let's just say there were only a couple of "not last" holes for them.  Couldn't get the disc to fly right on this day.

On approximately hole 13, we met a guy (that of course Moses knew) named Joe.  Moses asked him to join, but he said we were playing too fast for him.  He was looking for his disc in the deep rough, which was unfindable.  I didn't want him to feel bad, so I tossed our disc in there as well 😉   After a few minutes of looking for both discs together (unsuccessfully) Moses was able to convince Joe that we were not that good, and that he would be fine to join us.  And so he did for the last few holes.

We finished on a winner take all hole, which of course Team 1 handled easily, and then we moseyed back to the edge of the field for COT.  In all, we were 1.7 miles on the course, lots of fun, and plenty of exercise, including a few burpees.

Moses took us out, we welcomed Randy and Joe, who we hope will be back, and Roadie, Kosar, Moses, Randy, and I made the journey to Summit and the DFM for coffeeteria, where Roadie taught us about salt in your coffee (ask him — it's a good thing), Kosar taught us a little about rush landscaping jobs, and Moses bought us a cinnamon bobka (and coffee) that was out of this world.

One other note for future's sake — the mid-range discs do NOT fly that well long range.  Best practice, I think, would be to roll with a driver and a putter for each team.  I attribute ALL of our team's woes to the mid-range discs 🙂

What a great start to a Saturday.  See you all in the gloom.
