Ocho pax saddled up this Tuesday morning in May to see what adventure laid ahead at Fartlek.
YHC, proposed a variation of a route we have run in the past but this time attempting to avoid the construction at Birkdale and having to cross over and back on Hwy 73 aka the Highway of Death. Instead we wiil take a left turn and run up 73 on the side of the road until we hit Birkdale Commons Parkway.
I figured at this early in the morning and facing towards any potential traffic we should be ok. However, traffic was much heavier than I had expected and certainly made this likely a one and done experience. Everyone survived and there was no close calls but its certainly best not to do this again.
With that said, I do love this route. Great combination of inclines/declines throughout the route.
Everyone was able to put in at least 5 miles and most everyone was able to log a 10K for the day.
