Hotel Davidson

Ten brave souls ventured out on a Spring Break morning to escape children at home get stronger.  After a brief and poorly executed warmup we got right to it…

1) Davidson Green – A new W-I-B I came up with last time I was traveling for work and didn't have time to run and didn't want to use the cruddy hotel gym.  Modeled after the Davidson Seabiscuit workout…

  • SSH x 50 IC, Merkins x 10 IC, LBC x 15 IC, Squats x 15 IC
  • SSH x 30 IC, Merkins x 10 IC, LBC x 15 IC, Squats x 15 IC
  • SSH x 15 IC, Merkins x 10 IC, LBC x 15 IC, Squats x 15 IC (about this time it gets tough to count the cadence)
  • SSH x 30 IC, Merkins x 10 IC, LBC x 15 IC, Squats x 15 IC
  • SSH x 50 IC, Merkins x 10 IC, LBC x 15 IC, Squats x 15 IC

2)  Off to Town Hall – YHC needed a counting break so I went with a Genghis Khan style Town Hall circuit…

  • Crawl bear up the front stairs, 15 jump squats
  • Run to the back of the building / fire station, 15 WWII situps
  • Run up Jackson St to the corner of Jackson and Main (turns out Methane can tear up hills), 15 Carolina dry dock
  • Repeat X3

3) Pair up and head to DUMC and grab one sandbag per pair

  • One member of pair curls the bag five time and holds it high while the other does three burpees
  • Switch and repeat until each has done 25 curls and 15 burpees
  • Recover jog to the dumpsters and back
  • Repeat sandbag exercise but replace curls with presses
  • Quick low flutter and heals to heaven to wrap up

COT – Spanarkle invited the outdoor crew to join the Pain Lab for COT which was a great idea.  Good conversation about mid-life crises and how F3 can fill a hole that some men find they have as children age and move out and climbing the corporate ladder is no longer important.  As Crude has said in the past – F3 is a men's support group disguised as a workout group.  I think we are all thankful for that.

Swamp Thing commented that the first set on the Green was mentally tough because he thought we'd never leave the Green.  Sounds like a workout name to me – Hotel Davidson ("You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.")
