6 PAX traded their warm cozy fart sack and braved the chilly April gloom for a 2.3 mile jaunt through North Meck Park.
YHC arrived a bit early to do a little solo mobility and was warmly greated shortly after by Hippie. Just a minute or two later, a large SUV, seemingly a blue Honda Pilot?? pulled in. YHC could only make out a man approaching us in a dark hoodie (head covered) moving rather slow and as this PAX approached, it became more clear who this hard-charger was as the words "Cal Poly" were legible on his sweatshirt under the dimly lit lights of the parking lot. YCH was pumped to see Popcorn make an appearance at Viking! Also happy to see Honeysuckle Blue come up for the festivities in store.
The workout went something like this after a brief disclaimer:
- Mosey around the parking lot and end in the back for Warm-A-Rama where the standard sets of SSH, IST, Toy Soldier, Wind Mill, Mountain Climbers, and Merkins were performed.
- Mosey towards 115 for the long way into North Meck Park stopping half-way down the main road for another set of warm ups including SSH, Planking with alternating right arm up and left arm up followed by a brief mobility moment
- Mosey towards back of park ending in the parking lot adjacent to soccer field.
- Rocky Balboas x 20 IC
- Next set of exercises was OYO and included a reverse ladder of dips, merkins, WWII situps starting with 12 and decreasing by 2, with a lap around the parking lot after each set. PAX also included 2 or more pull-ups in the previous sets of exercise.
- Gather under lit picnic shelter for a double repeato of incline merkins, alternating step ups (20 each leg), and decline merkins.
- Mosey back towards parking lot for another brief mobility moment
- 3 minutes of MARY was performed including low flutter, rosalita, and Waffle House calling out his favorite pretzel crunch, and lastly Popcorn took us out with a 10 rep core exercise that took strong coordination and stability.
- Thanks to Hippie for taking us out in prayer and acknowledging God's grace and presence in our lives.
Moleskin highlights
- All 6 PAX enjoyed coffee together at AT&T coffeeteria
- Service project Saturday 4/23 in Old Cornelius as volunteers needed for Cornelius Community Garden revitalization. Show up for a 1st and 2nd F at Smithville Park 7am, or pick a volunteer time slot between 9am-noon OR 1pm -4pm
- Great discussion about how we can achieve wealth by lviing well below our means as inspired by the book "The Millionaire Next Door"
- Popcorn looking fresh with his newly groomed crew cut using #2 clippers.
- Hippie and others considering an upcoming 2nd F at Top Golf
- Also with regards to $$, Popcorn reminded us that paying for experiences is far more meaningful than material things. Popcorn is pumped with his father / son trip to Glacier National Park later this year and his trip to Puerto Rico with his M. A few Puerto Rico travel tips from Honeysuckle Blue were provided as he was there recently with his M.
- Great seeing Jersey Boy back from his trip out west and understandably a bit fatigued during the workout.
- Waffle House, now only living minutes away, tested the clock this AM coming in hot in his Audi wagon with only minutes to spare before the start of the workout.
As always, honored to lead in the gloom and especially thankful having these outstanding men show up this morning.
Humbly in Christ,
Possum
