If your butt doesn’t hurt, you’re not doing it right. . .

The rain was drizzling down like the mist from a can of Evian facial spray they give you in business class on American Airlines (I’ve heard). Mulligan was early and then Boar Hog inexplicably appeared with Boar Dog (Hurley) despite being warned that we weren’t going to be running (which is what Hurley seems to love more than anything else).

We did lots of stretchy things and hard things (and yes, I’m aware that sounds a little dirty). At one point during the workout, this phrase was uttered: “If your butt doesn’t hurt, you’re not doing it right.” Unfortunately, that brought up some difficult memories for some of the pax. We stand in solidarity with our brothers in pain due to butt trauma of any kind. Life is hard enough without your backside reminding you of an unpleasant experience (or even a pleasant one—no judgment).

For the record, the previous paragraph is about exercises. What were YOU thinking it was about?

We managed to keep as dry as our humor, which filled the air like the lingering odor in a 90-degree locker room shortly after the wrestling team has departed.

On a serious note, we were grateful to see Mulligan (even if he only came because he didn’t see a preblast for Mighty Oak). He very recently lost his dad, who was too young to go. Let’s continue to support our brother and his family as they navigate this difficult loss. Everyone deals with grief in different ways, but I’m happy that Mulligan has decided to continue to take advantage of his F3 brotherhood.

This was my 7-year F3nniversary and it’s been a life-changing experience from beginning to end, with uncountable laughs and happy memories peppered with a few injuries and an occasional sad story. It occurred to me that F3 is a microcosm of life (if life were the way it should be): mostly amazing but with just enough sorrow to remind us to be grateful for every moment.  A special shout out to Moses, who EH’d me at a poker game 7 years ago. What a long, strange trip it’s been!

Thanks for coming out to help me celebrate, gentlemen! I hope to see you on my 30th F3nniversary!
