It was back to the good old days and a 4:45 start at Emmaus this morning. Everyone who showed must have read the preblast because they all showed up on time.

Plan was to run to Arnie's, do some work there and run back, but since that would have involved leaving Jedi behind and possibly missing some 5am'ers, we kept it all on the plastic grassy area in front of Starbucks. Focus was on core and body weight exercises.

Red October joined the rest of us for the 5:30 discussion on Live Right, which is the 2nd of 4 quadrants, and follows the Get Right.

During our time we discussed the definition of purpose and developing a vision statement, a singlular point of focus that exists outside yourself. Outside of the relationships of your concentrica (because getting those right are primary and essential to developing a point of focus outside the concentrica), what gets you up in the morning? What pushes you forward when you don't feel like it or just downright down have it in you?

Part of Living Right is having and developing that purpose. Dredd's is the reinvigoration of male leadership in the community. Dark Helmet shared that his is to "Unlock the minds of other people who have greatness in them."

Being purposeful is committing to bringing that purpose, that advantage sought, to fruition. How successful you are in doing so is defined only by what you can control, not circumstances outside your control. Doing the best we can with what we have is in our control. Whether you are influencing and helping one other person or 20,000 isn't fully in your control. Focus on the purpose itself, not trying to reach the multitudes. As a Christian, I believe God created us with purpose and he calls us to live and act a certain way, but leave the results of our actions in His hands. There are so many things outside of our control and it is a waste to try to get a handle on those things. Focus on what responsibility we do have.

We also discussed being in survival mode vs. non-survival mode. When in survival mode (and all of us can be in survival made at various points in life) it is all we can do to try to GetRight. Maslow's hierarchy of needs also came up, how we who live in the modern, developed world are much closer to the top of the pyramid. Although that doesn;lt necessarily make us any better off. I believe the majority of mean who fall into the sad clown category are those who have everything they need and more, but are still unfulfilled. Which is why it is in all of our interest to point to and lead toward a place of advantage.

This leads into the final point which is that Living Right helps you stay right. As you accelerate, seeking advantage for yourself transforms into seeking advantage for others, which provides the dynamite the fuel for continuing onward yourself.

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. -Aristotle

You have heard the adage, it takes money to make money. By investing with others you have more to invest collectively and together your return is greater than it would be on your own. You are also much more diversified in your investment, as each one brings different strengths and weaknesses to the table, and ones strengths covers anothers weakness. Collectively we help hedge one another.
