16, no wait…

17 (with Soprano); no wait…

18 (with Gio-FNG) men posted in the gloom looking for a #3S2T workout. 4 of the pax ran the Standard for good measure: Jimmy O, Soprano, Tuffy, Cousin Eddie (FNG to the Standard). I started my 5-minute timer and we were off.

After a jog around the parking lot, we circled up for a disclaimer, which Gio & Soprano missed (bullet dodged, because they didn't appear to have been injured). Soprano has strolled into the workout late 2 times this week from the Standard. I suppose he consistently overestimates his speed?  I don't know…  Gio had an excuse for his delay, as he drove 25 minutes to this workout, the street signs were written in English (not Jamaican), and it was DARK!

Some warmorama excercises ensued, including SSH, Willy Mayes Hayes, Perkins, and Knee-ups. At the 5 minute point, we all did 20 side to side squats, OYO. This continued every 5 minutes throughout the workout for a total of 160 side-to-side squats. Mosey to the playground for 7s (pull-ups and merkins). Mosey back to the parking lot for partner work…

  • Partner 1 pushes Partner 2 40 yards – 15 decline merkins off your partner's back; flap jack
  • Partner 2 pushes Partner 1 40 yards – 20 knee-ups
  • Partner 1 pushes Partner 2 40 yards – partner pick-up, 10 with each arm; flap jack
  • Partner 2 pushes Partner 1 40 yards – 15 knee-ups
  • Partner 1 pulls Partner 2 40 yards – 10 decline merkins off your partner's back; flap jack
  • Partner 2 pulls Partner 1 40 yards – 10 knee-ups
  • Partner 1 pulls Partner 2 40 yards – ??
  • Partner 2 pulls Partner 1 40 yards – 5 knee-ups

Makhtar Ndiaye while waiting for the 6.

We made our way to the grass for a plankline, about 3 feet between pax, and passed weights with right had from left to right all the way through the line. Person at the end ran the weight to the other end and restarted the proces. We did this several times through and then reversed course.

Mosey to the basketball goal on other side of the parking lot for MWAR (mary with a rope). Although, the pax didn't stick to ab excercises. Why? Because they care about you fitness. Every man had a turn on the rope while we cycled through 18 excercises, including but not limited to: burpees, wide merkins, crunchy-frog, flutter kicks, Ws, alternating lunges, and rosalitas.

After reading this poem by William Ernest Henley for inspiration…

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Gio (FNG) took us out in prayer. It was both reverent and funny…you had to be there. Come to think of it, next time you should defy the fartsack and be there!

Moleskin:

  1. Josh and Gio acquited themselves well. Good job, men. I look forward to your next workouts.
  2. I don't know if it's because of me or you missing workouts, but it was great seeing so many of you again.  Keep up the good work, Cousin Eddie. Ask me to Q again sometime 😉 I don't use the website… Don't tell Blackbeard.
  3. PT, good for you. Good for me 🙂
  4. Thanks to Jordy in F3Waynesville for inspiring the reading of Invictus.
  5. Side lunge, side squat…whatevs.
