The Iron Pax Challenge is over, but that doesn’t mean we should stop challenging ourselves. Last year, the Iron Pax Challenge highlighted one of my weaknesses – running. I would struggle on any sort of running portion of the workouts, especially any run 1+ miles. So, I resolved that I would become a stronger runner. I can certainly do more than 1 mile these days. This year, it highlighted that I have severely neglected leg and shoulder exercises. You better believe that I’ll be incorporating a lot more squat thrusters into my routine.
It isn’t enough to just recognize our weaknesses – we need to turn them into our strengths. IPC forced me to check my own fitness and showed me that I’ve started to settle into a comfort zone. It’s time to get out of the comfort zone. If I stayed in my comfort zone, I’d still be paying for a gym membership I didn’t use and be way out of shape.
This is why I plan on taking over the reins at Dragon Slayer as of October 15 and running workouts every Thursday morning at 05:30 that will be intended to be higher intensity. I understand this is not for everyone and that’s fine. It’s You vs. You. This is not to shame anyone or to prove anything. I’m doing this for me and for any pax who want to join me in finding their limits and breaking through them.
Aye!
