Just Another Day at School

11 pax braved the gloom at the Mighty Jungle on 1/18/2025, with a slight chance of rain and a 100% chance of pain. Here is roughly what ensued…

Warm-o-rama included at least these exercises, and maybe a few I’ve forgotten: SSH, Perkins (that’s not a typo), arm circles (like a pterodactyl backing out of trouble), and toy soldiers. You still weren’t mimicking me, Blackbeard.

Mosey to the blocks & pull-up bars for work on speed, back, and biceps.

  • 6 rounds of running, jogging, and muscle work
  • The running was in 60-yard increments and started slow for the first 30 yards (50% or 75% of full pace) and then accelerated for the last 30 yards (80% or 100%) of your pace…jog back to the pullup bars. One of the 60-yard runs was backwards.
  • Exercises included full extension pullups & chin-ups, upright rows, bent over rows, lawnmower pulls, curls, and deadlifts.

At this point, Primo complained for the 5th time about the rain, goaded by Blackbeard. The rest of the pax didn’t notice the precipitation. We made our way to the school for some dry ground, doing some karaoke and plank-o-rama on the way.

At the school, we made use of the wall for some sitting, including single leg wall sits. We also worked on the shoulders and let the blood rush to our heads with feet on the wall. When Primo was confident that we wouldn’t melt, we use the exposed curb for Muhammed Ali’s and a couple rounds of merkins on the curb. We wrapped up our time at the school with 1 round of Dora to 50 burpees. Toby knocked out way more than half of my 50. Tclaps! Somewhere in all that schoolwork, we managed recess (a mobility moment). There was some knowledge testing at school… Crimson and JB recited most of the Greek phonetic alphabets. Not bad, gents.

Mosey to the launch point for battle rope work. Everyone got one turn on the rope while we took turns calling exercises. Nobody put us on the wet ground. To be fair, Blackbeard REALLY wanted to do WWII sit-ups, but he acquiesced after not even waiting for the pax to complain and kept us on our feet. We wrapped up with a long jog around the parking lot and some plank-o-rama.

Moleskin:

  1. Tclaps Blackbeard for the EH and for handling the preblast.
  2. Bijoux (Davidson pax) travelled from VA to SC to find us and explained the origins of his nickname. It’s a jewel of a story. Ask him sometime.
  3. Big Cheese defied the parking lot speed limits. They have cameras. You might expect a ticket in the mail.
  4. Rocket explained the state of F3Nation, reminding me of the first things I learned about this phenomenon… addition by division is a thing!
  5. Bijoux reverently took us out. TAP for those with elderly and ailing parents.
  6. Coffee was very well attended at the Waterbean.
  7. As always, HONORED!
