I like to make philosophical statements in my backblasts so I’ll quickly talk about the workout and then pose a question for discussion.
We warmed up (Rodeo classic), did burners and laps on the fields, did wall work, mobility, and Mary. We covered 1.6 miles and burned about 450 calories. It was a solid 45 minute workout.
More importantly we discussed at length the merits of early pre blasts vs late back blasts.
I am of the opinion that people know the general schedule and most of us are creatures of habit. Therefore to, we know which workout we’re going to long before pre blasts come out. An early pre blast may drive one or two undecideds, but much like the election in November, nobody walks up to the polling booth undecided.
Gambini took the opposing argument and believes strongly that early pre blasts (even as early as 7:00 am which gets lost in the Twitter sphere) can draw out more folks. He believes it’s much more important to confirm the workout, so as creatures of habit, we don’t have to worry about whether the workout will take place or not.
Well counselor, I disagree with your premise and argue that getting people their credit is far more important.
What say the Pax?
I like to know who the Q is before posting and the PB is (usually) the easiest way to get that info.
I don’t care when the PB is issued as long as it’s before bedtime. Of course, if there’s no PB by then, I assume the Q is Rodeo so it all works out. 🤗
i love PB. In confirms the workout and motivates me. I strive to move among all the AO’s over time, so I try to use them to motivate me away from my usual haunts. Nice BB.
I kinda agree to both sides in a few different ways. I usually have my weekly workout plan thought out early in the week. HOWEVER, I can be easily persuaded to choose other Qs or AOs depending on the plan or who is Qing. There are factors such as WIBs that I like (or want to avoid), celebrations such as F3versary or Birthday beat downs and type of posts such as KB, running or boot camps. That being said, I sift through all the PBs the night before and make a final decision before going to bed. My biggest determining variable is the PB content, not the Q. If anyone is willing to put themselves out there and lead, I’ll show up. If I don’t see a PB, I will most likely not post there.
#1 thing a PB tells me is that the Q is going to come with a plan and cares enough to think about it in advance.
The lack of a PB leads me to believe/worry the Q has forgotten, has had something come up last minute, or that they know they have the Q but haven’t put anything together for it.
All of the above thoughts – whether true or untrue – lead me to select a different AO.
Yes – I too look ahead and have an idea for what AOs I’ll likely post at, but that could certainly change based on the PB (or lack of).
If the Q has a plan it takes no time at all to post a PB and has zero impact the timeliness of the BB. I absolutely value a timely BB as well.
There are numerous reasons to post a PB. I’ve yet to read or hear 1 relevant reason not to.
That’s a hollow argument, because I’ve never shown up without a plan.
I actually agree with Rodeo on this. I have showed up to Qs sometimes with maybe a plan(and sometimes it shows) but I don’t discriminate based on pre blasts
I am clearly losing this argument, so I will concede. Earlier preblasts seem to be valued by the Pax. Fine.
Nonetheless it is written in stone following the great schism of ‘14 that the pb can’t go out before 0800. It was known affectionately as the Morris Rule for our feline friend with multiple lives.
I only expressed my humble opinion on PB and BB timing. The rule was established by the social machine.
Oh and …. #strayed ™
To be fair, 1-2 undecideds would have almost doubled your numbers at Fallout this morning. I can confirm Mr Holland’s early and authentic PB had that exact positive effect at FKT this morning.
Fallout is consistently light, especially when cold. There’s only a few hard chargers in the cold on the west side, so not sure a pre blast would have generated more.
I’ve clearly lose the argument, do a proper concession is in order. Early pre lasts it is.
Appreciate you and your Qs, Rodeo. I only state that not seeing a PB causes me to worry – it’s not a given that there is no Q or no plan.
Posted at Caddyshack on the South side of Nashville this AM and headed to The Racetrack tomorrow. I wish there were a PB for these here but they use slack, and while I am certainly a slacker in many ways – I’m not actually on slack, so…
Jumping in late, some good discussion. I didn’t mean to seriously imply a pb as early as 0700 was needed, but I am looking forward to the first Rodeo pb during regular business hours!
Truth be told, Rodeo really posted this BB for one reason only: To rise to the top of the most talked about BBs, which is exactly where this one is now, and will be the rest of the week. Well played Rodeo!
