Lear Inspires F3RCUSA™ to Commemorate Iwo Jima

Twenty (yes, missing a few in the Pax, please advise on Slack) gathered at the Glen for a frigid morning beatdown.  #thestandard showupers were stalwurts Discraft and Loveshack…..very apropos as the namesake Series B Disc Golf tourny was hosted this weekend at Stumpy Creek by the legendary Statesvegas Disc Golf Club (SDGC).  As the hour came close to 7, Lear asked YHC if he could have a minute during the Pledge to talk about Iwo Jima, where Japanese deaths numbered 3x's that of the American.  It was an amazing strategic win for our troops in WWII. That said, our workout went like this–>

Warm ups- IC – SSH 20, CP'S 10, Hillbilly's 10, IST 15, SDS's 15, Merkins 10-mozy to parking area, High Knees, Butt Kickers, R/L Karaoke

Merkin Circle- 7 Wide, Diamond, then Reguluar grip Merkins.  Mozy to far end of soccer field, bottom of the hill for….

The Thang- ROCK WORK- 21's (curls-7 low, 7 high, 7 full reps), IC- Skull Crushers 14, Mil Presses 14, Squats 14, Bent Over Rows 14, 21's to finish, Quad up Hill to Track, Indian Run to far end of track, circle back to get our six of Lear and Chief as decided they just HAD to go through the tunnel.  Line up at top of hill, to bottom 10 Burpees, up to top, Plank.

Stations- Partner up, 10 stations AMRAP of Squats, Decline Merkins on Swings, Dips, CDD's, Heel Slappers, Inclines, Declines, Dips, and Step-Ups.  The PACER was 20, then 15 Rope Whips by each partner as the other planked.  Two rounds, of each, first was 20 whips, the 2nd was only 15 due to intensity issues during the first round (see the Moleskine).

Rope to pillars, Pax slalom pillars with Cheez Whiz at the lead……more on that later. Back to AO for…

Mary- Pax lines up in a row on their six, hold rope above head, 21 WWII's IC, Rope to Chest- 21 LBC's IC, 21 Flutter Presses IC, all with rope.  Recover, recover.

Moleskine:

-A collective shout out to Lear that filled in the details on the Battle of Iwo Jima after our pledge.  The lives lost for Japan were significant, to say the least. Of the 22,060 Japanese soldiers on the island, 18,844 died from fighting or by suicide. Only 216 were captured during the battle. After Iwo Jima, 3,000 hid in the tunnels. The 36-day battle for Iwo Jima resulted in more than 26,000 American casualties, including 6,800 dead.

-FNG-1 is Mackinaw's son-in-law.

-The 'Stations' were meant to be AMRAP, but during the first round the Pax displayed such apathy toward their reps, that YHC had to call the group together after the first round and explain to them that that type of effort would have resulted the US LOSING in Iwo Jima and us speaking Japanese!  The Pax impressively responded and crushed the 2nd round, making it their last.

-The 'Slalom' was more envisioned from a drone, a beautiful 'flow' of men along the posts, with the rope, going in a laminar flow type fashion…..that did not happen.  After about 200 ft. of the quagmire, the exercise was halted, in embarassment, by the Q.  Best laid plans….

-SEVERAL are missing from the Pax list above, please post on Slack and it will be edited.

-Thanks for the keys Shambala, she's a beaut!
