REFLECTION:

ACTS 5: 27-

And when they had brought them, they set them before the council. And the high priest asked them, saying, “Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this name? And look, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man’s blood on us!”

But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men.  The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree.

Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.”

This chapter of Acts is something that comes to mind often when I think about the dedication and devotion the Apostles and the early followers of the church displayed.  They knew that speaking out about Jesus and what his resurrection meant to the world would mean certain arrest and possible death and, yet, they stood firm in their faith and continued to teach and spread the word.

In some ways, that makes me very disapppointed in what we, as Christians today, allow to stand in our way of proclaiming the Good News.  We often allow men to rule our words and deeds instead of obeying God.  We stand by idly as our schools remove the name Christ from the Christmas songs our children sing during the "winter pageant" and cower in obedience when our un-elected judges force the removal of God's commandments from the public square.  We do all this in the name of 'keeping the peace' and 'not rocking the boat'.

Guess what?  God wants us to rock the boat!  Jesus literally rocked the boat as the Apostles, still not convinced, feared for their lives in order to show them that, no matter the storm, He was in control.

I pray that, as we go about our week, we notice – and even seek out – opportunities to display even one iota of the courage and strength the Apostles did during the early days of the church following Christ's death and resurrection.

MOLESKIN:

– not a lot of mumble-chatter today that the Q could tune into as the PAX spread out over the circuit.

– Q had fun watching Spork and Clubber challenge each other lap after lap #IronSharpensIron

– not gonna lie, Q kind of enjoyed the inverted 'merkins – they might make some future appearances

– it was nice to have the flipping tire back in action.  Q was going to use the tire as the timer (finish when the tire got flipped all the way to the other end) until he realized that some were flipping it the OTHER WAY!

– time to re-tape the pull up bars #HumidityEqualsSlippery

– Tclaps to Mulligan for (as usual) getting in some early Standard work.

– missed some of the out-of-towners this morning (I will be one Wednesday).  Hope everyone is enjoying safe travels.

– As always, it is truly an honor to be allowed to lead and a privilege just to be a part of this fine group.
