With the QvQ championship taking place North of us at Man Maker Monday YHC was tempted to bail on my Q and converge North. However, we welcomed an FNG at Cauldron and Coffeteria Friday and encouraged him to post at The Sword next, so YHC didn’t want to risk FNG-1 not getting the message. So the PB was sent to all pax wanting to stay close to home.
Little did the 4 pax who showed to join the Q know that the plan was to not stay close to home after all. Headlamps were strapped on (YHC and The Colonel at least), disclaimer was stated and away we went.
Into Cedarfield, right onto the dark greenway then left onto New Oak Lane. We’d circle up there for some warm-o-rama of long snappers and windmills. Then despite the darkness, the pax could see the daunting hill ahead. Up we went and the pax soon learned New Oak must be the longest rode in Cedarfield. But by the time we got to the stop sign the pax was glad to hear it would mostly be down hill from there.
Back to the AO for some Balls2TheWall, “Merkinators” and dips. Then it was time for MWAR.
The Moleskine:
Too bad FNG-1 from Friday didn’t show today. Hopefully he found out about the QvQ or perhaps he’ll find us again soon. After calling him “Shelly” numerous times Friday, I later learned it’s “Sheldon”.
We covered almost 2.5 miles with our loop mosey. YHC was prepared to shorten that if Sheldon or anyone else didn’t seem comfortable. But this was a strong, determined group and even with the chill and the hill, YHC heard no complaints.
It was fun for YHC to whip out my big, long, thick, black… rope in the dark this morning. Out Cold had not seen it before. He walked up for an up-close look as YHC was pulling it out of the box. Said his glasses were fogged up so couldn’t see it til he got close. Yepppp…….
YHC posted at an OTB bootcamp at the hands of Powerball on Saturday at Lake Norman Charter for a school event. Picked up a couple learnings from that for the Isotope pax.
Lifted prayers up for Estwing’s father and look forward to hearing his surgery goes well today.
Congrats to Omega on his repeato QvQ ‘Chip. That had to cost him a whole lotta coffee dolla’s!
As always, I am amazed with the creativity (big, long, thick and black rope :P) and commitment you put in to make the workouts amazing.
I felt like I may have slowed down the group multiple times during the run, but I am thankful for the Colnel and the 4 PAX for their patience and for not leaving me behind. Yet another amazing workout in the books!
You continue to CRUSH IT, Out Cold! Despite the fact that your mentor EHer, Turnpike has yet to post with you!!! From the pax count page on the/this site, it shows Turnpike has had at least 8 chances to join and support you at a workout – ha!
You didn’t slow anyone down in the gloom, OC. Maybe we got a few paces ahead of you and The Colonel a couple times but that just gave us the chance to double back for a few extra steps on our Fit-Bits (no – we don’t own Fit-Bits… or do we???).
Love your enthusiasm for F3. We’ll have you co-Qing then Qing in no time! And it’s healthy for us “experienced” pax who have been doing this for so long to remember and appreciate how so many of the workouts can be astonishingly creative and amazing like you’ve stated. I recall telling anyone who would listen about all the workouts. Now it’s just “normal”. And that’s scary.
This morning during MWAR when it came to be your turn, I should have added your quote to the Moleskine above: “If you will please follow me in cadence…” What a polite Q you will be!
