It was a nice morning w/ temps in the upper 40s, perfect running weather. It was good to see a few new faces at Fartlek this morning (Forrest, Dallas, Kumquat) that I hadn't seen at this AO in some time.
In total we had 9.166 Pax w/ The Force joining us for the first mile of our run as he was headed to another F3 beatdown. So he counts as 0.166 Pax at Fartlek.
Groundhog Day +3 and what better way to celebrate than going on the hunt for varmint. As such, the route for today was running a few holes of the Birkdale golf course. The route was delegated to Ultraman since he was more familiar navigating the course to get us our 6 miles.
In the infamous words of Carl Spackler,
- "License to kill gophers by the government of the United Nations. Man, free to kill gophers at will. To kill you must know your enemy, and in this case, my enemy is a varmint. And a varmint will not quit, ever."
- " I have to laugh, because I've outsmarted even myself. My enemy, my foe, is an animal. In order to conquer the animal, I have to learn to think like an animal. And, whenever possible, to look like one. I've gotta get inside this guy's pelt and crawl around for a few days."
Well we didn't exactly crawl around but we did run around the Birkdale golf course as most put in six miles on the day.
Unfortunately, the pace bullies Forrest & Frogger didn't hear the command to halt and navigate through the woods But insead made a left turn and never seen again until the run was over. They adapted, overcame and put in their six so it was all good.
