The mall ruckers met at 0515 at AT&T Starbucks for an out and back route starting at the Starbucks off Sam Furr (knowing the Viking crew would be there upon our return). Our trio walked the parking lot in front of Marshall’s (which was unusually busy for the time), behind Lowe’s and on to the greenway.
The halfway point came as we were walking northwest up Bailey Rd in Oakhurst. Unfortunately, the Q’s watch took a little longer to hit the 2-mile mark than the pace bully’s device, and he turned back early. This forced him to choose between walking the spooky greenway alone (and risk being eaten by the Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog) or do squats while we caught up with him again. He wisely chose the latter.
The return proved to be rabbit-free, and the only anxiety was in deciding how healthy it is to eat grain-finished vs grass-finished beef (the Q eats what fits in his budget). Aside from a few patches of ice, the trek was pretty ho-hum and upon our return, we had just enough time to change into dry clothes before the Viking crew joined for a cup of joe.
The expanded portion of the greenway that is going right next to Bailey road up to the rec center is done if you Mall Walkers want to explore it before it opens to the public. 4 mile route exactly
What?? Where does the new section connect to the existing trail? I don’t recall seeing a new path (but it was dark and I was probably arguing with Canuck…)
