And, not registered on the site…Rip Tide
P'Diddy was scheduled to take the AES but had to travel so I stepped in, perfect chance to bring back the Cane O' Pain which I haven't done since May. The Cane O' Pain is a workout based on the PAINinsula's Horseshoe, but there are a few more hills and as the name suggests, it's more of a cane than a horseshoe.
The routine is pretty simple and the pax doesn't have to listen to me count which is nothing close to a cadence. We started at the corner of Walnut St. and Goodrum St. with 20 Merkins, then we ran down Goodrum, turned right onto Spring St. headed up and over Walnut St. and South St. before running 100+ yards down Spring St. we added Mason Twists ran back added Carolina Dry Docks, repeato added LBC's, repeato added Squats. On the sixth trip we dropped the Merkins, on the seventh, and last due to time, we dropped the Mason Twists. Pretty standard routine, which after you do it a few times can be pretty boring. So to spice things up a little, I had the pax stop by DUMC and pick up bricks to carry with us while we ran, a few complied and a few modified. Leaving the bricks behind, in hindsight, was a smart move.
Moleskin:
- Nice to have Mary K back after a brief stint on the IR. He still managed to lead the way. For a guy who claims he hates to run, he can motor
- Stumpjumper at 54 years young, kept Mary K company. He won't admit it yet, but he's running the BRR next year
- Shakespeare quietly put the rest of the pax behind him while trying to chase down Mary K and Stumpjumper, solid work, brother and welcome to next year's BRR team
- The Hangover was on his way to The green when he passed us, he quickly pulled a U-turn and caught us in the DUMC parking lot. A move he later regretted.
- LD, thank you for the Tweet, which became the title of this Backblast. You've got this look at times, that scares me, I saw it more than a few times yesterday. You have my word, the next time I lead and you're in the pax, I will not make you run…a lot
- A shout out to Rip Tide, who won't see it since he eschews all types of technology, especially synthetic clothes, for the solid work and constant encouragemnet.
- Solid work by all. This is a tough workout, we covered close to 4.5 miles adn did quite a few exercises
- As always, it's humbling to lead such fine men
AYE!!
