First things first:

1. I was reminded this morning that if you haven’t seen someone at a workout in a while, don’t assume they’re going to another workout or training for something with another group. It very well could mean they’re hurt, or struggling, or just didn’t feel motivated one day and that one day led to another and then another. Just add them to the pre-blast or send them a message. There’s pretty much nothing bad that can come from this practice. And the upside could be tremendous.

2. I was also reminded that every guy has “stuff” going on that most of us will never hear about. We can’t always solve other guys’ “stuff”, but we can all be willing to done one small thing to help a brother out.

Now, on to the thang:

– Gnarly Goat was first on the scene this morning. All cotton all the time. He took a quick pre-run while the motley crew assembled in a timely fashion. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, then it doesn’t matter. What does matter is that we started at precicely 5:30 and the Goat joined us as we moseyed to the CVS parking lot for a warm-up. It was pretty standard, although we did start with 50 SSH’s in cadence. The Q did have a momentary lapse of reason and considered going for 100, but Soprano was not in attendance, so there was no need to have the group hate you right off the bat.

– Another mosey behind the Police Station, quadrophila up the hill, jog in place while we gathered the group, and then some step-ups, dips, and incline merkins in front of the station. Hippie correctly pointed out that it seems like incline merkins should be easier, and yet, this morning they seemed more difficult. Perhaps that’s because his arms somehow knew what was to come.

– Mosey across the street to Town Hall where we did a ladder of sorts up the steps. Starting with 2 in cadence, we did incline merkins and squats on the first step, and moved up one step and added another incline merkin and squat until we we completed 7 incline merkins in cadence and 7 squats in cadence on the 7th step. And then back down the ladder. The Q is pretty sure he lost count somewhere along the way and is absolutely sure he was not on the same step as everyone else. The Q did not care.

– Mosey to the Food Lion parking lot for another set of 50 SSH in cadence, followed by curb merkins, curb squats, incline curb merkins, curb calf raises, and curb decline merkins. This seemed like a lot of merkins to the Q. The Q did not care.

– Mosey behind Food Lion for two sets of People’s Chair with Air Presses. These lasted as long as the 10 Count from Goat and then from Hippie. Neither seemed to be in a hurry in their count. Don’t blame the Q.

– Mosey back to the Food Lion parking lot where the group Lunge Walked a pretty good distance (is that vague or what?!?!). Turn around and proceeded to do 5 low slow merkins on a white parking lot line. Then we went to the “next next” white line for 5 low slow squats . Then to the “next next” line for 10 merkins. “Next Next” for squats, and finally “Next Next” for 15 merkins. It may have been Jersey Boy who stated that he dreaded seeing the 15 merkins coming. The Q did too . . . but the Q did not care.

– Mosey to the memorial for some quick SSH, dips, and the pledge. The Q did notice that Gnarly Goat was reading the memorial rather than doing the exercises. Respect or rebellion? We’ll go with respect.

– Mosey to the gas station rails for some one legged low slow squats and then mosey back to the launch.

– We had just enough time for a forward leaning rest that went from hands to elbows to hands with 10 counts in between from Chilly Willey, Jersey Boy, and Cousin Eddie.

– Recover Recover.

Jersey Boy reminded us of having gratitude for all the things we don’t have to go through. So many in this world aren’t so fortunate.

The sunrise behind Hippie reminded us of what a glorious world we live in. If we just stop and notice, it’s really amazing sometimes isn’t it?

Chilly Willy was strong but quiet this morning (although he may have just been listening to Jersey Boy the whole time).

Cousin Eddie showed no signs of injury and it was good to see him back at Fission where he’s been missed.

Thanks for the opportunity to sign up for a last minute Q. Appreciate all the guys showing up this morning. Fill us in on any coffeteria conversations of interest.

BTW, the Q does care.

Until next time,

Hollywood
