Again the plan was to fartsack, and again someone DM’d me asking if there was going to be a ruck this morning. How can I let down my rucking fans?
Tired of the repeat trips to Corntown just to get a cup of coffee, I searched “Huntersville coffee COVID” and the top hit was Defined Coffee at LFC. “Excellent” I thought, “all I need is a 4-mile course through Cedarfield ending around 0700 for a cup of joe close to home.” I tweeted the PB before I even had a route planned.
I had no idea Cedarfield was so small (TWSS). I didn’t really feel like crossing over into the business park so I finally opted for a pretzel-shaped loop, crossing the Bradford Hill / Greenway intersection thrice.
Omaha had added 5 pounds to his pack and was trailing a good distance. I tried to keep us on pace, but had failed to start my watch and had no idea of our pace. I’m guessing that without Free Pass and Hall Monitor, we were probably back in the 16 something range. Toxic stuck to the pace we set, only getting sidetracked once when I pointed out Amen’s house which had a set of wiper blades in the driveway that looked lonely.
Rumor had it that Omaha may Q the next ruck so that he has a say in distance and location. History suggests the rucks that YHC doesn’t lead are the best attended ones. Looking forward to seeing all of Omaha’s groupees next time!
