Moist Tour de Santiago

The day started out with a very ominous forecast, but that did not stop 6 (4 BBRers and 2 for support) from showing up for a 3mi standard before the Thang.  YHC made a cardinal error during the standard.   Ladybug was describing an LSD run in which he got caught in a storm at the halfway point.  YHC then mentioned that he had never been caught in a storm during a run…..omen #1.

We arrived back at the AO to find 7 more souls ready to tour Estate de Santiago, little did we know what awaited us.  At the onset of said run YHC mentioned that Contra has turned into quite the runner, no longer a Reluctant if you ask me.  He mentioned that he missed those days and that he was going to fart sack this morning but checked the forecast at 3 am and it said 0% chance of rain….. omen #2, we were doomed.  At the 1.5mi mark (about 2min after Contra's utterance) the sprinkle began.  At first, this was very refreshing, stimulating almost.  We then turned off Morrison Plantation onto Brawley and the heavens opened up.  At this juncture, Chicken Little was seriously regretting the 100% cotton t-shirt choice (it was free though….)

As we made our way past the Brawley market we saw 2 other runners coming towards us; At least we thought they were runners, may have been Hurricane evacuees.  We turned down Fernbrook and the rain had not abated.  Down the hill, left on Castles Gate, and then the left on the Hill of Death.  Yes!!  this is what BRR training is all about!!!  A left back on Oak Tree where YHC did a poor job as the Q.  There were several homes under construction and plenty of mud in the sidewalk.  We slip-slide our way through without injury; hopefully, Cheez Whiz won't mind if I return the new kicks…..  At this point, it looked as though we would get a reprieve from the moisture.

The pardon from the liquid punishment was short lived.  As we made our way back down Brawley to Morrison the precipitation had reach toad straggling level.  All made it back to the AO for CoT safely, although we thought we were going to have to call a search party for Nymph (this was poor Q'ing on me..).
