My orange bell captivated the Pax

Fantastic turnout (19) for my first Q at Man Maker Monday. Clearly I am quite a draw or nobody saw my pre-blast. I’ll have to ponder that at some other time….

Disclaimer provided.

Warmup

  • SSH x20
  • Windmill x8
  • ‘merkin x10
  • Imperial Storm Trooper x 10

The Thang

  • Mosey around the bus lot
  • Crowd Pleasers AKA “Bam Bams”
    • This is a merkin-groiner ladder. Do 1 of each, then 2, then 3 up to 6, then back down to 1. Round 2 we went to 5; Round 3 we went to 4
  • Goblet Squat – 10 IC
  • Lawnmower Pulls, right, then left – 10 IC
  • Chest Squeeze (squeeze the bell in between your palms, you’re not gripping it or holding the handle, with arms extended but not locked. We raise and hold, then lower and hold, on the Q’s “up” or “down”. The ups were about 10 seconds, the downs were about 5 seconds) – x3
  • Stack the Shelf – 10 IC
  • Skull Crusher – 10 IC
  • Full Curl – 10 IC
  • KB swing – 10 OYO
  • Sit-ups – Round 1; 10 IC, Rounds 2 & 3; using the bell we did 10 up/downs
  • Chest Press – 10 IC
  • Monkey Humpers – 10 IC
  • Mosey around the bus lot

Repeat the routine twice

Mary

  • Pretzel Crunch

Moleskin

  • Kid Rock took the PAX out with a nice prayer today. Moses politely disagreed on one point however.
  • Thanks to Omega for the honor to let me lead this great AO. I don’t visit MMM that often but it looks to have a great group of regulars. My plan for 2019 is to visit more workouts and Q them, sans running workouts of course because why would I do that? Roadie don’t run.

Age stats for nerds

  • Mean: 46.9 (average of the recorded ages)
  • Median: 48 (age in the middle of those recorded)
  • Mode: 49 (age that occurred the most)
  • Max: 55 (highest age)
  • Min: 35 (lowest age)
  • Count: 19 (count of pax)
  • Standard Deviation: 5.23316 (square root of the average “distance” each age had from the mean)
  • Kurtosis: 1.06615 (indicates how “tailed” the data, i.e., are there outliers)
  • Skewness: -0.82195 (describes the asymmetry of the data with respect to the mean, i.e., are we leaning left or right in a normal distribution. For about 3/4 of my Qs, the skew leans negative, which is not surprising given the likelihood of more guys in their upper 40s/low 50s coupled with just a couple Pax in their 30s.)
