4 uptown pax had had enough of the same old same old. Don't get us wrong, we still love us some tacos, but you gotta switch it up sometimes.
A few weeks back, we switched it up and had a special #TamaleTuesday edition of #TacoTuesday. Today, while chatting after our trip to F3 Outer Limits, Ramrod and I decided that today would be #NachoTuesday. Ramrod identified a few options in the uptown, and of these YHC selected Queen City Bites and Crafts (QCBC), located in the Latta Arcade alleyway, primarily because YHC had never been there.
Launch was at 1150. YHC arrived a few minutes early and grabbed one of the two high tops in QCBC (a relatively small place) that could accommodate up to 6 pax. Ramrod arrived at 1150 on the nose. One minute later, and to our great surprise, Jimmy O strolled in. Quite a treat to have him join us, as he is typically stuck on conference calls on Tuesdays at noon. Pusher had suggested earlier in the day that he might make an appearance, so we waited a few extra minutes before placing our orders.
Around 1210, shortly after our food had arrived, Ramrod and Jimmy O – who were both seated facing the window – noticed a confused Turnpike wandering around Latta Arcade. YHC ran outside and retrieved him. TP would be the first to admit that he is directionally challenged, but in his defense this time, the exterior of Queen City Bites and Crafts only says "QCBC," and there are about a dozen restaurants in the alley. Anyway, glad to have TP join us.
Taco Nachoskin:
- Despite our having agreed today would be #NachoTuesday, YHC was the only one to order nachos. Everyone else ordered burgers. I must say, the burgers looked pretty good, especially Jimmy O's. Was that pimiento cheese? Meanwhile, YHC's white chicken chili nachos were just okay.
- Turnpike ordered "just a plain old cheeseburger" while simultaneously pointing at a specific item on the menu, then complained when the burger came out with all of the advertised fixins on it, rather than "plain." He immediately sacrificed two french fries to perform mustard and mayo removal while wondering aloud who in their right mind would want a burger with both mustard and mayo. The rest of the pax agreed that this was a pretty standard combination.
- All 4 pax had worked up a good appetite posting earlier this morning. While Ramrod, TP, and YHC were heading to Outer Limits, Jimmy O was criscrossing Huntersville in the opposite direction to Q at Fallout. There were FNGs present at both locations, and the pax chatted about the need to redouble EH efforts and perhaps fire up an FNG/Kotters month.
- Tclaps and safe travels to Jimmy O's 2.0, who will be heading to NZ later this month for study abroad.
