Interesting that its been 7 years for me, still remember first workout at Wilderness, at was a cold day in February Jorel yelling at everyone, barely survived the warmup. The banter from the PAX was encouraging and I remember thinking if I keep at it, maybe I'll be able to the workout some day. Anyway I got a name, became a regular, then started adding other workouts. I remember the buses to the mud run, my pants fitting better along the way, eventually losing a few pounds. Made friends along the way, loved reconnecting here and there with the PAX, as well as the energy the new guys brought in. Lots of CSAUP as well, for me it started with mud runs, then the 1st bear, soon I was doing BRR (Snake Eyes always encouraging me that I 'was a runner'), before I knew it was training for this crazy ruck thing and doing more relay runs.
7 years….through all of that (and some things I didn't mention), like most of you I've worked through struggles with family, work, injury, fitness routines etc. At times I've had fitness goals to accomplish, which are important, but not the real reason any of remain engaged, not over the long haul anyway. Through life's ups and downs, this group of men has supported me, it hasn't always been obvious from the outside, but its been there. At times it was the COT and the prayer at the end, sometimes it was the mumblechatter I needed, sometimes the side conversation with one of you who had or was going through other challenges and needed to talk, or maybe could offer me advice. Thanks to all for reading and supporting the guy next to you, he needs it…..and you need it.
Rarely write this much in a backblast….did my best to be eloquent, enough of the nostalgia, Tantrum out!
