No Murphing for this Pax

Event Date

Feb 26, 2024

Not included in pax list:  Mobias or Mobius?  New pax, recently named I believe and his first post at The Sword.  I believe he stated he was nicknamed after a gaming character (far outside of YHC’s wheelehouse).  He pushed hard and seemed to be amused by us so let’s look for him at future workouts, encourage him and get him on the website!

Troll stated up front he’d need to leave at 6:00.  He did and YHC failed to notice or say goodbye – just noticed his block sitting there lonely when we moseyed back up to them around 6:01.  His block wouldn’t be lonely for long as Ping would finish the workout using TWO blocks.

YHC was DR over the weekend on a very brief snowboarding trip with friends.  4 hours of boarding on Saturday had YHC barely able to move on Sunday…  And with the Murph looming YHC wondered if there was an AO and a Q out there that might be “doable”…  but alas – no Q on the website for The Sword so YHC grabbed it knowing YHC could make it easy enough for the aching body to endure.

YHC wasn’t the only one avoiding the Murph as 9 other pax showed up to join.  Late in the workout we lost Troll to an early start to his day but we picked up Happy Gilmore so all was good.

The Thang:

Disclaimer and a slow mosey up the parking lot with some of the usual moves.  Ping and Mobius would get just enough ahead of us to allow the Q and rest of the pax to stay straight after they took a turn down another row of the parking lot.  Lesson to the pax – don’t try to guess what a Q has in mind – especially if you’re running and you’re ahead of the Q.

Grab blocks up top, circle up, then the usual Warm-o-Rama.

First things first – since we’re all avoiding the Murph let’s show some respect, show Mobius what the Murph is about and remind all the pax just how challenging a full Murph would be – 5 pull-ups, 20 squats IC, 10 merkings IC, then 5 more pull-ups.

Back to the blocks for 3 burnin’ sets each of full curls and skull crushers.  Now mosey down to the church and the wall where we’d give the arms a break.  People’s chair with air press, then Christian McCalf-raises, then people’s chair again for a story, then calf-raises.  Mosey past the cars, say farewell to Troll (or don’t – oops), then around and back up top to the blocks again.

Couple full sets of lawn mowers each arm.  Running low on time so walking full curls while we put the blocks away, then mosey down to the launch again.  YHC would then explain to the no-longer-virgin Mobius that when YHC Qs the big, long, thick, black… rope gets whipped out for MWAR.  And it did.

MWAR and around the circle, completing the circle at 6:13 so YHC called for high and low planking up and down while YHC boxed the rope back up.  Recover-recover.

Moleskine:

Lot’s of announcements as F3Isotope has a lot coming up, such as…

Convergence tomorrow (Tues) at Fartlek where we will ALL meet at Wynfield Forest Clubhouse (back of Wynfield where Fartlek and Wilderness take place) at 0530.  There will be a bootcamp (or 2?) and a run offered from multiple Qs as we circle up around our brother Crablegs and mourn the loss of his M alongside him.

Funeral for Jen (Crablegs’ M) is at the funeral home behind Goodwill on exit 23 at 11AM Friday.

Polar Bear (10th running and potentially the last did I hear?) is March 9.

Christina Latini Memorial 8K run/ruck/walk (with 2 mile option) is Sat, March 16.

There’s a fun mud run coming up in a few months – keep a listen out for that.

There’s a Christmas party for F3Isotope later in the year.  Probably in December.

Prayers for many but a special lifting of prayer for Happy Gilmore’s sister Carole.  Carole has been on the list for a liver transplant for years and after working hard to be healthy enough then fortunate enough to be blessed – her name was called late last week.  Organ transplant surgery is difficult and this one turned out to be even more-so.  Numerous complications throughout had her enduring more than 12 hours of surgery over the weekend and another this morning.  Carole is fighting hard and showing signs of improvement but it’s a delicate situation so please take a moment to lift her up.

Of course we also keep Crablegs and his entire family in our hearts, minds and prayers this week and for many weeks and months to come.

Prayers for Ultraman, his mom, his dad and their family as he visits with his mom and continues to serve and love on her like she has done for them for over 50 years.

See you all on Thursday for a very rare 29th of February Samson.  Aye.
