Reflection

Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”

We must refrain from isolating ourselves from the world around us. It can be quite a temptation, particularly when the world seems dark, to withdraw from society. Or, even in a time when we feel we need to seek God out more, we might be tempted to cut out the very activities that are most impactful to the mission that God has us on. It’s not too uncommon to hear people say that they skip church, or small group meetings, or an F3 post, because they’ve convinced themselves that their time is better served doing spiritual things in isolation. But just think if Jesus took this approach when he was living among us. Sure, there were times when he isolated himself and devoted himself to prayer, but ultimately he was sent among the people to be a light in a dark world. In like manner, we are also called to be a light among those around us. And, let’s be honest, there are other self-serving moments in the day we could sacrifice to devote to study and prayer. Always remember that you might just be the only source of light or encouragement that others are seeking.   Be the light.

M/C

  • On the drive in, I saw a set of Honda Accord headlights pull in behind me. I wondered to myself the odds of it being C#. I was pleasantly surprised that it was in fact him.
  • Also good to see Coat Factory, Styx, Dr Doolittle, and Thrift Shop grinding through the workouts each day.
  • Mater pulled an Abrams-sized shirt-wringing after the workout. I’m having a hard time controlling gag reflexes as I’m writing this, but all nastiness aside, it was most impressive.
  • I don’t think I’ve ever seen Sparrow sweat. I’m not sure if this is an age thing or whether he’s just really bad-ass, being a fighter jet pilot and all. I’m clinging towards the latter.

As always, an honor.
