Noodles Aren’t Low Carb

Although the preblast asked the pax to bring their noodles, they obviously knew I was trying to stick to a low carb diet and they didn’t want to tempt me with all the pasta. Without noodles, we had no choice but to follow one of the MQ’s previous workout plans. I guess he can still haunt us with head taps even while he’s sleeping in in Daytona.

Warm-up: Choice until 0545

Main Course:

  • 8 x 25 yds Head Taps
  • 3 rounds of –
    • 200 yds swim
    • 200 yds pull
    • 200 yds kick

Cool-down: 200 yds choice

That’s 2200+ yards of complete chlorine saturation for anyone counting at home. The Q may or may not have skipped about 150 yards of kicking since he was too lazy to get out of the pool to get his fins and kicking without them is about as effective as slogging through a mud pit.

A few triathletes opted to cap it at 1500 yards or 45 minutes in favor of coffee which in hindsight was not a bad idea. Perhaps we can lead a coup when the MQ returns to make that the new norm. Kudos to Smokey for putting the rest of us to shame, and to Die Hard who has improved immensely since a few short weeks ago. And finally, a shout out to Caesar who shared a lane with me and tried to keep me honest about getting in all the laps!
