5:28am YHC rolls into the parking lot to see some hard chargers ready to go. At 5:30am once route and pace were decided I tried to lead the pax out of the AO but Dingo very stubberonly said wait for Eeyore, at 5:32 the waiting was over and he wasn't coming so we ran. As diffiant as a 2 year old Dingo tried to slow the pax down by spiking his headlamp into the pavement not once but yes twice in the first 500 yards all of this to slow the pax for the hopeful arrival of Eeeyore.
The pax take the Sam Fur hill in route to the island. The faster group cross Catawba but the others didn't catch the light so we wait (rest), and when its our time this madman in a black truck pulls up looking for the Odyssey, it is no other then Eeyore. After parking at the church on the way to the island, Dingo promises him a ride back to his car, he joins the run.
After and island loop the group split some for the short course and a promise of a beatdown while the other went for the easy 5 mile option. They say a sucker is born everyday and well after mile 4.5 the legendary Hoodie found one when he stepped up the pace and who fell for it, not Omar or Anchovie, they have read this book and know the ending, but YHC is that kind of sucker. Next thing you know we are somewhere between 5:30 and 6:00 min pace coming in hot to the AO both seeking the double white line better know as the FKT.
The other 3 guys who were doing the beatdown (um.. drinking coffee) called it a photo finish and we are still awaiting the booth review for a final ruling but Hoodie looked strong out there, could it have been the bright yellow Boston Marathon shirt or the fresh fall weather, either way a strong day at the Odyssey.
Back to our missing MQ, we have run different routes the last 3 weeks, we tried standard and no standard we write BB and we skip BB yet we still can't find our MQ. If you see him invite him out we need him back in the Gloom, his loyal follower need him back without his leadership we might have to do the unthinkable and merge with the dark side of the force known as the off the books Candy Shop where coffee is only $250 now. If we don't merge the PopCorn talked about shutting us down and no one wants that.
